I wonder if we get double headers tonight? Jeremy is still anchoring, AFAIK. Maybe Anna will join him. Hopefully the 15 minute bulletins are scrapped tonight aswell.

Doesn't Sky News look so much better with two anchors??
Ryley - I'll make it simple, take a look at your channel this evening (you know the one with the all the BREAKING NEWS all over the place, look how well two anchors handled a breaking news story.
After you have done that, get a pen and paper and start looking at pairs of anchors for your 'shows'.
Then go and tell them the new arrangements, some of them will throw hissy fits because they want to be the stars.
But stay strong, something I know is difficult for you but breathe in and give it a try, then on Monday morning from 6am, unveil your new line up and maybe, just MAYBE we will all forgive you.

Sorry, did any of you actually READ SN2005's post a few pages back? It's the first time we've been given any insight into what Ryley's trying to do and why he's trying to do it. A return to the Sky News of 2005 is not what's needed.

The 2005 relaunch didn't work. It seems, in fact, to have brought Sky News back to 1989, ie Square One. I'm sure Ryley would be more ambitious if he had the money. But at present he's just trying to rebuild the channel on a shoestring.

I disagree.

The 2005 relaunch - in my humble opinion as a viewer - was magnificent and cutting edge. It worked very well and was good to watch. Never before has a mainstream newscast used three presenters all in one programme. It was only when they started to tinker with it did it all fall to pieces, IMO. The new format was given long enough to bed-in and, soon afterwards, the hatchet man was brought in and made cuts and changes here, there and everywhere.

Sure, there were some glitches with the relaunch and some of the anchors chosen were perhaps not so perfect - GB, GJ, JR, EH......to name some.

But, the moment they started to dismantle the successful aspects of the relaunched Sky News, the channel then started to lose it's way.

Completely agree - and the trouble with Sky News Today especially was no new presenting teams were really established - they seemed to chop and change every few months, if not every day.

There were of course problems with the 2005 relaunch, but the main problem came a few months later when the panic button was pressed and rather than tweaking what they had, they tried to go back in time to what they had before - which may to some extent have satisfied the channels older viewers, but really did put off newer viewers like myself.
