I noticed they started doing it yesterday. It isn't the first time daytime sky news has used that type of BUG, I am surprised it isn't in the same position as the Sunrise Weather BUG.
Because its part of a major news story you can't have it outside the 4:3 safe zone.
Sky News weather presenter Denise Nurse has written an article on the Sky News website, and its currently on the "Other Top Stories" list. I''m not sure if its been mentioned on TV, but Denise's cousin was shot dead in Manchester on Saturday night.
Quote:
Sky Presenter: 'I Couldn't Speak So I Cried'
By Sky's Denise Nurse
My cousin died yesterday. He was shot in the head in Manchester on Saturday evening.
Halton McCollin was young and kind, gifted and promising - and not a gang member.
Wasted Life: Halton McCollinHe was in a Chinese takeaway with some friends when two men burst in and opened fire. There were witnesses and CCTV but nobody has been arrested yet.
is emma crosby now a permanent business presenter? yesterday she was introduced at the newswall by colin as 'our business presenter Emma Crosby' and today she's live from the LSE. Seems a bit of a waste but with the inexplicable rise and rise of Samantha Simmonds and the use of cheaper newsreaders like Tamsin Roberts et al she has become a bit redundant.

well she has not become redunant really, she was hired from CNBC Europe, has quite a bit of experience in business, so really she is coming into her own.
Sky News.com was interrupted and then subsequently dropped in favour of the fire in Las Vegas. Martin did well to deal with it on his own, and it was a bit of a baptism of fire (no pun) for Steve Hargrave who is in LA at the moment.
Martin still came off air at 8pm handing over to Anna. I thought he might of stayed on.

EDIT: Back to rolling 15minute news at 8-15pm
Steve is in Vegas, which was a lucky coincidence.
Once again it made you realise how much Martin is being wasted, just 2 hours on air a week!
Your comments are highly accurate - Sky News has become a bit of a mish-mash of mediocrity and bewilderment. It is somewhat incredible that anchors such as Martin Stanford are underutilised to the current extent.
I have not yet seen the segments presented by Dermot Murnaghan. However, I hope that he is given some meaty roles at Sky and not left to dwindle in the same way that Botting, Etchingham and Standford have.
Perhaps Dermot has been brought-in to eventually succeed Jeremy Thompson? Is it the case that Sky News prime time needs an injection of newness, or is JT the safe pair of hands that the viewer wants at tea-time? I am not sure - I do not perceive the direction in which the channel is heading and I have lost all interest in it, frankly.
In fact, the attached clip (from 9months after the re-launch), doesn't look so bad when compared to today's offering. Even good old JR at WNT would be a welcome return today!!
Sky News is just a shambles at the moment, and if the plans to get if off Freeview are given the go ahead it can only go downhill from there on in, and ultimately it will not survive on Sky Digital alone.
Like with many organisations, they haven't got the bottle to see a relaunch through and at the first sign of trouble begin undoing moves which they had strong justification for a few weeks earlier - and then later of course try to milk the successful elements of the schedule and end up just ruining them too.
Looking at the wider picture though and I think it's probably fair to say Sky News suffers from the lack of commercial competition. OK, the ITV News Channel never worried them in the ratings, but it certainly influenced them in the style and the scheduling while on air - and the three main channels were all quite comfortable with their place in the market.
And then when the ITV News Channel went, Sky got a bit misguided and in attempting to battle with the BBC, ended up losing out.
Sky have their problems in daytime but it's primetime which is the real mess. 15-minute news may be handy if you catch it, but you're not going to be bothered if you miss it - and the 8-10pm window could be put to better use at a time where there isn't a "bulletin" on terrestrial TV.
I've said before I'd launch a "Live at Nine" spin-off with Jeremy Thompson back for an hour at 9pm, and then launch a new evening programme from 6-9pm which could include the 15-minute bulletins say on the hour and half hour, but with features and extended sport, business and entertainment bulletins at points in between - and probably even space for a 15-minute version of Sky.com/news at some point during the 3 hours.
