Lunchtime Live was deemed a ratings success - and it was. One of the few that really did succeed, and was funnily enough the only strand to remain close to it's 2005 model.

Last year though, something happened, and a certain bright-spark decided it would be best if they could get Kay to do another two hours and move her to mid afternoon. Wrong move.

A sample of why I think Afternoon Live should be dropped.

Not sure it's a great idea to be honest.

I'm not going to take a moral high ground on Britney being more important than the political issues of the day. I'm probably more interested in it than the odd bog-standard story about one MP slagging off another.

However, I thought the point of Sky News wasn't just to be ratings-chasing and tabloid, but also to win points from the opinion formers in parliament?

How's Dermot doing at the moment? Not near the TV at the moment.

I must say I find it odd that he's starting on Tuesday. I thought the advert said he started today.

Same, seems a bit silly.

It was interesting that he was chosen ahead of Trevor McDonald to give the blanket coverage of the death of Diana.

I think the advert did. At a guess though this has something to do with his BBC contract?

Goodness me, the Live bug looks ugly when the location is "Peterborough New Hampshire", it looks so long and distracting!

Yes, New Hampshire should be enough!
