Just saw the changes for the first time and i have to say i am very impressed.

The glassed effect on the straps makes them look so much better.

Its good that there is almost just the one theme, the blue, rather than loads of different ones as it was before.

But i was most impressed with the newswall,it looks great, the background looks a bit similar to the one on Sky Sports News.Overall great changes and possibly the best thing presentation wise that John Ryley has done so far.My only concern is that it makes the newsroom quite dark and it may get a bit stale over time. Also the breaking news background on the newswall is pretty poor in my opinion,it just looks odd.

Hate too quote myself, but i just want to take back what i said about the breaking news background. It just takes a bit of getting used to.It actually looks quite good the way it animates on to the newswall.

Your questions are really confusing! Well I guess there isnt any more news desks behind the newswall but in fact, it is the shot of the desks behind the anchor desk, projected onto the newsrwall once more, so it appears a duplication cleverly executed.

Sorry for being so confusing Embarassed .
It's interesting to see how they've done it.

So they've got cameras presumebly behind the curve backing around the main desk then, and add the background onto that before putting it onto the wall?

Interesting idea, you have to give them credit.

Though I'm sure on an overnight easlier in the week, I saw no body behind the anchor's desk, but some people on the wall.

It's a recording, the people are not from a live shot of the newsroom! It's a CGI fake newsroom background, just like the previous BBC One news studio, but it's very well designed and is made to fit in well to the real newsroom, so that in the wide shot you can barely see the join.

I think it's really clever, and looks great (love the blue bit towards the left hand side).

Have I got News For you have just played the Julie Etchingham Sky News gaff from the other day.

Anyone who missed it can see it on the repeat on BBC on Saturday or Sunday night

.... Was very funny!

Not sure of the precise details, but she handed to a report which was something to do with the UK Government's proposed methods of dealing with immigrants.

Various options were being listed by the guest, interviewee or reporter (whomever it happened to be) during the film. Julie didn't realise that her lapelle mic was still up live, and uttered the words "maybe extermination", or something along those lines. This was broadcast the the Global audience who were watching.

She will now probably be asked to appear before a Commons Committee to explain herself, or she may even be sent to prison for six months, such is the UK Government's current way of dealing with trivialities!!

Not entirely right.

It was a speech by David Cameron (not someone from the government). He said 'our policy on immigrantion should be obvious' and then Julie, not realising that her mic was live, said 'extermination'

Whether or not she should have made the comment whilst miked up is not the point IMHO.

Whoever faded that mic up needs a damn good talking to, though.
