I don't know, it worked for Mark and Steve, they seemed to get on great with the relaunch.
I'd like to see a double header brought in for Sky 'News' Today, so that they can stand at the wall, and sit at the desk just like they used to do. We won't know what Dermot will be like until he arrives, if he's a fan of rolling news, then hopefully he will want to try different things. The only thing that I remember him walking around was the ITV virtual election studio in 1999.

fanoftv - I'd love to see 'Sky Today' or whatever it's called given a revamp. Take it back to the newswall at least although I just can't see Dermot looking that comfortable in a newsroom environment. Kay and Emma are an example of a good team. Bring Colin in a bit more, having said that though it's one thing having two gals having a chat but Dermot and Colin I think not!

Well didn't he leave itv in 2002 just to get away from presenting on the itv news channel? He must be a pretty big fan of sky's rolling coverage. And fanoftv remember Mark and Steve are the epitomy of sky news. marks been there for years and you can see that Steve really enjoys presenting there wth that style and all. Dermot I'm not sure. First class presenter. But, sky?

Didn't really see Dermot as a Breakfast presenter though when he left ITV - that seemed a big step down too from a position where he was being groomed as Trevor McDonald's successor.
I do think Dermot though would be more suited to something like Live at Five than a four-hour rolling news show.

Maybe you've hit the nail...Dermot being groomed to replace JT??

Maybe not the end of his TV career, but I've certainly felt that JT has not excelled in the studio on single-anchored Live at Five, and remains a far better *out in the field* correspondant....

But is that not what today's anchor is meant to be like able to be out in the field and be authorative and calm while in the studio? Has Dermott been able to anchor from location - I have never seen him do that.
While I AINT a fan of Sky News - JT is one of the best ones there. He is not just going through the motions and is by far the best male anchor the channel has. Dermott is nothing on him IMO.

Maybe, but IMO, JT was always better as a senior correspondent, rather than combining presenting and reporting...
And yes Dermot has done on-location reporting...he's anchored Breakfast from Westminster on a couple of occasions, plus he did a special series for Breakfast on Britishness a couple of years ago, again live from somewhere or other....

Suprised to see that Julie is to be the main presenter, rather than the co-presenter, of ITV's returning News at 10

Quite a step up.
