I loved this, it's Saturday Luchtime, so what if they had a bit of fun. They have that huge Newswall and they might as well use it.
I can imagine an opening with them dancing there and the zoom around the Newsroom. I'm joking.

Since I first saw it , the bit by the wall has always looked like a stage to me. Sky have finally used it for it's right purpose. Heavily ' promo'ing' the nfl in this case.

What next up there, the Circus 'celebre' troupe from sky one ?

You just want some absolutely massive story to break halfway through that routine and the presenter having to step in front of the cheerleaders and say "Sorry to interrupt you girls but we are just hearing Gordon Brown has sensationally quit..."

Very true. I was waiting all the way through that clip for BREAKING NEWS to start scrolling along the wall behind them ...

This has been blown out of all proportion. It was a weekend lunchtime and took up little more than a couple of minutes. Sky News rarely even does anything that comes close to this, so it is a welcome break from the norm.

It made me laugh, so it worked to lighten the agenda again, like the old days of Sky News Today PM.

Yeah I agree, I was posting really to Jugulug who was getting his knickers in a twist over what was in reality a very small section of the hour.

From watching that clip, it's something that Sky News should do more, not have cheerleaders, but to on a slow news day enjoy themselves a bit more, this is what Steve and Mark were doing back in 2005 and something that made it more watchable, especially rolling news when it's the same every hour, its nice to have something to make it feel different.

Its nice to see Steve Dixon, always been a fan, and he seems to use the studio well whenever he's on which is what needs to happen.
Though I'm still not fond of sole presenting. It may work for live at 5 and afternoon live, but why not make the other bulletins such as Sky News Today very different (hopefully they will in the new year with Dermot), and have them marching around the actual newsroom as they introduced in the old sky news studio.

Perhaps I was, but to me it just seems very weird.

New background used on Sky News's international breakfiller for its news portion. Weather, business remained unchanged.

Could you perhaps provide images or at least describe it.

Would it be the old Martin Stamford background?
