I would prepare yourselves for something erm...how can I put it....different?

I nearly shat myself the first time I saw everything together. I was not expecting it. i don't want to give too much away as it will spoil the surprise for everybody.

The TOTH feels alot more structured now. Which is very good.

Whilst i still don't agree with the decision on principle, I feel they've gone the right way about doing what they want to do.

Ohhhh, so many secrets I could tell, but alas I think you can wait.

Oh goody! The good old "I know something you don't" post.

A staple of TV Forum over the years - although completely unnecessary. If you know stuff, which you don't want to share - then don't bother saying that you know information.

Somebody had a bad day at work?

Fine I will tell you something then. The music is similar to the current style - as has been alluded to. A few months back this was tried out overnight - as was documented. The hope being to role this out across all TOTH's. It didn't happen because a certain person was advised that it didn't work, despite his opinions otherwise.

So they went back to the drawing board with quite a strict brief actually. Far more rigid than I like - but that's my opinion. The music rather than sounding quite static, linear and basic now has more depth - like the orchestral style. There was alot of looking back at the old music - what they liked what they didn't like, and which bits fitted with the new image. It remains very grand - but not the type of grand that we saw back in 2005.

It is very hard to explain. That is the reason why i don't like giving details, because i'm so **** at explaining stuff, I need aids.

This is a reluanch that has kind of been on the cards for ages. The plan originally was to relaunch in two stages. One in February and one in the early may/june-ish. Just before everything goes tits up and people leave on holiday. However, with Blair leaving and Maddie McCann - that simply wasn't possible. I also now know that Mr Ryley wasn't happy with launching stage two because he'd been unable to resolve the tricky problem of the evenings. In other words he was **** scared that if he got it wrong then it could be curtains. So he waited and searched untill he could sign Jeff Randell.

As time went on however, there was increasing pressure to expand this relaunch and make it more of a relaunch in its own right - because of the change in focus and loss of impetus from february. Times had changed and so had ideas. This it has to be said has been rushed alittle bit more. Of course the natural choice is to stick kay Burley on for longer. She's charismatic (or atleast more than most of them) and is damned good with breaking news. Then the morning and it was a toss up between martin and Julie. As we all now know Julie got the gig - and I'll explain why.

The new buzz word at the news centre is 'new-media' - and it don't take much to figure that out.. martin, being the teccy type is a person with the natural interest to front this side of things. and he's had more of an influence than you would care to imagine. I would epxect Martin to become the 'face' of sky news online. so just 'cos he's only on 2hrs a week, don't mean that's all he's dong. There are also personal reasons involved.

Anna Jones was a bit difficult, and i don't think anybody other than Mr Ryley can tell you why sh'es been placed in the 15mins slot. But here's what I've been told. Again she was first choice to go with kay. But then that meant there was the sticky issue of who would front the 15 minutes? It was felt that Colin's style is a bit too monotonous and straght-laced to cut it, therefore Anna Jones was felt as an acceptable compromise. Don't ask me where Emma Croby came from - as I don't think anybody has a clue. i think it's more to do with that she's cheap rather than sh'es actually in favour at sky towers.

You'll also find that with new staff coming in they've helped focus everybody a bit with new ideas and suggestions.

So I do know my stuff - and now i have shared. Kindly retract your post and your claws young AJ.

Well, from that I think whenever this music launches (hopefully Monday)
its going to be much bolder, and funkier. Much like the 2001 music, and I loved that. I think now that they've went away from the orchestral music, it would have been daft to bring it back, so just developing on the current music is good.
I don't know if I like the idea of "special graphics" and two-ways idea, but as long as that Coming Up animation (the blue lines etc) goes I'll be happy! Roll on Monday..

Not sure about the comments about Emma Crosby. IMHO she is excellent.

Was there any truth in the rumour recently that her and Steve Dixon are engaged?

don't they get one presenter does not work for such long periods, and using "names" for me is not working

The idiot on Sunrise = Awful
Julie - really good presenter but not on her own for such a long period, Colin what a waste
Kay - overrated, Emma again a waste should be moved back to Sunrise
Jeremy - good but tens times better when working with a colleague (and not Gillian)
Anna & Martin what a waste
Anna - like Jeremy lost her touch being by herself

what about new talent? times change as do presenters

Extremely insightful and you certainly have let us in on a heck of a lot.

However, I am still confused as to why they

a) have a half an hour Jeff Randall Live and skynews.com slot

b) why they only have a business slot once a week and techy slot four times a week?

c) why they have Anna B on at 7 to half 7 and then back again at 10pm to midnight? Why could they not have Anna J on at 7pm to half 7 or indeed why they have not got Anna B doing the 8-10pm shift as well?

It still seems rather bitty and 'lets keep al our fingers and toes crossed' like?

Any changes to the ticker or tower?

So are these changes to music and perhaps a few graphics all taking place on Monday or will the schedule be introduced first and then changes to TOTH? Wink

I hope they've got a better, more "funky" bed for the announcer at the TOTH, I would guess there not using the orchestral one from Monday?

Completly new music package, not sure quite on the release. Very dancey, and no orchestra. Only in some of the stings. Wink

I've said enough for now Surprised its very different though as I have already said.

It's like being in a nightclub. It sounds really good from what I've heard (really low quality files which I won't be distributing) - you won't be disappointed.

I am really excited about the new music, but also sad about them scrtaping double anchoring. Why can't they at least have them on weekends???
