I know, but you can't deny that the channel became boring and lifeless after they scraped the relunch. They had so many presenters working great together. Now it's all gone and you'll get 3 faces all day long.
What about Paula, Allan, Emma, Martin Popplewell,Lorna????
Not to mention Matrtin & Anna Jones, the only person I won't miss is Gillian. Steve Dixon got lucky this time.

She was just learning the ropes and yes she was not as polished as other presenters but I suppose in all fairness to Sky they are running a business and only the presenters who fall into the celebrity category are the safe ones - the rest are wage numbers....such is life!

It's sad. I hope they all find a better job, maybe at BBC World. I can see Paula there on weekends, Allan too.

I genuinelly liked Ginny. I just think that she was thrown into the deep end, and given a little more experience she could have been a much stronger presenter.

As for this damn schedule. 3 schedules in 18 months. That really stinks. It's as if they're in panic mode.

As for John ****!ng Ryley (or whatever his name is) he obviously has no care for the product. i don't give a sh!t whether the big cheeses are enforcing cost-cuts - what do they know about a running a sodding news channel? Bugger all probably.

You have to fight for what's yours. They spent a fortune on that bloody news centre - and the sad thing is that's the only thing that has remained consistent in the two years since they moved in.

What must Nick Pollard be thinking now? Just two years ago he was plotting triple-headed bulletins for 6 hours of the day and now we're lumbered with 6 presenters for all 24 hours.

Honestly have they learnt nothing from the last three months? EtchySketchingham is **** on her own. Lets face it. She needs somebody like Martin/Colin to interact with her. MissEgo inc is fine on her own - but four hours of her on her own? I might as well drive down to Beachy Head now.

I know I sound over-protective but I do know what i'm talking about. This is the channel that I grew up with, my dad worked there and I have aswell. I love it.

You see as we all know, the channel has always, ever since 1989 been based around two presenters, the news, and a little bit of banter in between. We all know the clips of Bob and Vivien/Anna. Martin/Julie. kay/Mark. It worked. So did the triple-headed stuff - ok pm was a little bit 'dry', but am was really really good and gave a genuine choice between Snooze24 and a brighter and livlier sky news today. It was those

Anyway. May be I'll be proved wrong. I hope so. I just won't be watching.

EDIT: In response to earlier posts. Sky are indeed running a business. They are also in no way short of money. You can't tell me that in two years of spending £20 million on a state-of-the-art news centre their fortunes have changed so much that they can no longer pay two presenters to present the news together. Its all a load of bull I'm afraid. We are being spun a lie.

I agree on all that you said. Julie isn't that good on her own, Kay is the only one who can do it, but 4 hours is a bit too much, even for her.
What will poor Colin do, he's gone from 6 to 3 and now 0 hours a day.
Their new boss doesn't have a clue about running a channel.

Wow - I have to say that I agree with that and could not have put it better myself.

As I have said on here many times - I lost faith in Sky News when they booted Juliette and Ginny out the door.

Perhaps Sky News was once a place which was idyllic to work but I doubt that is the case now.

As I have also said it is the celebrities and not the news presenters who are safe at this channel now.

I do not see Sky News getting any better any time soon and I also doubt I will change my viewing habits with this latest revamp. It is such a shame and IMO another waste of money!

OMG I was just watching videos form the reluch day, it was so good, why did the they have to ruin it.
Sky News Today was great with 3 presenters and it was great in the afternoon with a lot of breaking news. I'm so sad now that I think about all of this. As you can see I haven't been posting on this thread for some time, I lost the interest in Sky News. But I used to love it. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I think that sums it up with most people now. The thing is BBC News 24 has not got that better it is just Sky News has got that worse!

John Ryley has this vision (I think) of quick snappy one-to-one bulletins, headed from the desk with no distractions.
However, just watching clips of SNT on the relaunch day, tons better to what we have now. Just the fact the SNT logo was on the newswall or the desk was something!
Sky News has lost viewers because its lost what viewers liked Sky News for, newswall presenting, presenters being very friendly, having banter etc.
Its a huge mistake putting Julie on her own.
This video shows just how Sky News should be:

The newsroom is so much louder, we have Ginny walking down the stairs, great banter, graphics.. everything.
I think after they got critism for too much walking around the set, they just went back to basics, sitting at the desk. Its a shame that theres about 7 presentation points in that set, and we see around 3 during the whole day.

It's the solution to a problem that never existed! - the schedule needed tinkering, not another clean out.
Mr Ryley's approach must be 'heck this aint working, I know.....' and before presenters know it they are off.
I feel strangely sorry for Anna Botting, since the relaunch she gone from 9am to 12pm as part of three presenters, to Live at Five, to early evenings, to News at Ten and Sky News Tonight, no time to mark her territory.
I cannot see single-headed bulletins working, esp the line-up proposed, mind you with Mr Ryley's record, we will all be talking about another revamp in three months time!

well the relaunch was a disaster, so harking back to that is not a strong argument.

The camera shots today are very odd; very tight close up on the presenters. At re-launch they were far to wide, with the presenters little specs in in the 'we've got a massive studio, arnt we clever' setup.

Keep this close and the expenses for Burley Botox will go through the roof.

on the odd chance the gallery are nosing around here, ease the shots off 10% please! Jonus's make up is a little scary.

I was just about to post exactly the same thing. I'm just watching a repeat of the recorded 11.20pm sports bulletin and it's such a tight head shot. It reminded me of the shot I saw earlier which was exactly the same style, although I can't remember which presenter it was.

I've been off work for 2 days, and noticed This Morning do exactly the same thing during a serious interview.

The overnight presenter is only slightly less tight.
