EMBARGO: 0001 HOURS THURSDAY 6 SEPTEMBER, 2007 Jeff Randall, Britain’s best-known and highly respected business commentator, is bringing his expertise - and his contacts book - to Sky News this Autumn.

The Daily Telegraph’s Editor at Large, and the BBC’s former business editor, is to present a news strand - Jeff Randall Live, as part of Sky’s 24-hour rolling news schedule from September 24th. Jeff Randall Live will take a business look at the big news stories and issues of the day.

It'll certainly be interesting, especially considering Jeff's past and expertise but I wonder - haven't we been here before Sky - having scheduled programmes for prime time rolling news?

Maybe this shall be different...

Great news about Jeff.

At least it means they still care about Sky News, its a pleasant change from constant cost-cutting.

I wonder if further changes will take place on September 24th.

Jeremy Thompson now anchoring from Portugal.

BTW, over on BBC World, we now have the excellent Juliette Foster regularly presenting both news and business. I believe Sky made a huge mistake in sacking her. She is a highly credible and watchable presenter who connects well with the viewer.

Something that Sky News could actually do with right now...........

From 06.45 (at least) until 07.06 UK History was broadcasting in Sky News' place on Freeview. Channel 12 was also UK History. At 07.06 it suddenly changed back to Sky News on 82. Must have been some technical issue on the London Transmissions. Never known this to happen before. Sky News was definately broadcasting because it was showing on Five as scheduled until 7.00. Anyone got any ideas why this may have happened?

Sky have now got the majority of their key presenting line-up in on a weekend- Julie Etchingham in Rothley
Colin Brazier & Emma Crosby at Sky Centre
Kay Burley & Andrew Wilson on the Algarve

Plus they are still following the line of continuing coverage- how much longer can this go on for? Confused:
