Why on earth isn't Skynews broadcasting Diana's Memorial Mass?

Because they didn't want to pay for the coverage of it:

The news channel is not showing live coverage of the Diana memorial service today but is airing reports and tributes about the anniversary of her death.

The Princess Diana service of thanksgiving is however being aired on BBC1, BBC News 24, ITV1, CNN, Fox and EuroNews. Sky News decided not to pay to run the event.

According to that article last night they inadvertantly broadcast those pictures of Diana injured in the car

Without breaking any confidentialities, do you know (roughly) how much it would have cost them? Presumably the BBC aren't allowed to make a profit on it, just enough to break even?

Anyone know where Andrew Wilson will be i the schedule?

Interesting to see Colin Brazier doing the 8-12 shift last week, although it is a bit all over the place.

To be honest i've never really seen the the point of 'news' channels showing funeral/Church services. I can see the point of covering them but the actual services themselves are not really 'news'.

They can become news though. Earl Spencer's speech at Diana's Funeral was certainly an event that was "news".

I think regardless of wheather it was news or not, they would surely would have shown the memorial mass had they not had to pay for it.If it was for example an American event im sure Sky would have jumped at the oppurtunity of an hour or so of live footage, cause it must be cheaper than actually doing the news.

On another note i will be intriuged to see where Andrew Wilson slots into tommorow.Have to say it seems a pointless having him when they have some of their best presenters(Chris Roberts,Mark Longhurst etc.)working at the weekend.

Lets hope that he will be in a slot currently occupied by a single presenter, having 2 presenters is just so much more watchable.

But Mark Longhurst gets more viewing figures than weekday Sunrise...weekedn Sunrise, has as far as I can remember always outperformed the weekday edition whether with Holmes or not...

Even though he's now freelance (I think!), some of you may be mildly interested to know that Steve Gaisford is on the ITV Morning News today.

Why all this excitement about Andrew bloody Wilson?

It's not like he's never presented before.
