Yeah a very big story. Any news reports on the main channels?

Considering all the flooding was well reported on Look North 3 hours ago and everyone in Yorkshire knows it has been raining all day, I'm not sure why the news channels are now calling it 'breaking news'

Perhaps because the River Don didn't break it's banks until later in the day, and they couldn't get crews in or out of the city. Certainly Julie Lockwood was stuck in traffic during Calendar on her way back to the Sheffield newsroom with pictures.

It looks like the RAF rescue tipped them off that something was happening and that's why they are running with it now

BBC News 24 have now cottoned on, no doubt via viewers e-mails coming from far and wide, that it isn't just Sheffield effected and are now running with "Floods cause chaos in Yorkshire"

Indeed the River Aire in Leeds has burst it's banks with lots of fancy riverside apartments at risk, so there is a story there too

Plenty of eyewitness phone calls but seems only Sky have been lucky enough to get a live position over Sheffield -- not sure what's happened to the Beeb?

Well done Sky with live pictures.

Glad my licence fee is going to good use with the Beeb, espcially as they have a studio with full resources up there!!

Good bit of yorkshire spirit there. The presenter on News 24 trying to whip up a lot of drama "I'm sure it'll take a long time for Sheffield to get back to normal"
Sheffield bloke from Tesco: "Well I hope we'll be back to normal tomorrow!" Laughing

Watched the coverage last night from Sky News and I have to say it was first class. Anna held it all together well. They had good interviews and good live shots of the helicopter airlifting people.

Sky News do excel during these type of events. - Well done to them.

I think they should get someone new in,,,, maybe younger but Eamon could still do Sky News but another slot...! He's been doing it a little while now....! Don't they still change the preseners every few year's or so to make it feel fresh etc.

So, does anyone know the schedule for SKY News tomorrow? When will Tony Blair leave Downing Street?
