Perhaps because the River Don didn't break it's banks until later in the day, and they couldn't get crews in or out of the city. Certainly Julie Lockwood was stuck in traffic during Calendar on her way back to the Sheffield newsroom with pictures.

It looks like the RAF rescue tipped them off that something was happening and that's why they are running with it now
BBC News 24 have now cottoned on, no doubt via viewers e-mails coming from far and wide, that it isn't just Sheffield effected and are now running with "Floods cause chaos in Yorkshire"
Indeed the River Aire in Leeds has burst it's banks with lots of fancy riverside apartments at risk, so there is a story there too

I think they should get someone new in,,,, maybe younger but Eamon could still do Sky News but another slot...! He's been doing it a little while now....! Don't they still change the preseners every few year's or so to make it feel fresh etc.
