That's just because it's summer, isn't it? Not so much football going on at the moment.

Fair enough. I always thought there was a bit too much sport on Sky News anyway, what with them having a whole Sky Sports News channel broadcasting as well.

I still don't think it's the same, Sky Sports News mainly focuses on Football and Cricket, other Sports get a mention but nothing in-depth whatsoever. Where as on Sky News it's a bit more balanced and they actually show you the Highlights if it's from another channel, where as SSN doesn't.

SSN is good if you like Football (like me), but for any other Sport it's not that good.

Ultimately it is cost. Remember with a smaller audience and possibly less advertising revenue they have to balance the books some how, and having a paper review is cheaper and probably easier to produce than a 30 minute sport program.

Just to show how far we it's gone. I remember a time when there was Sportsline at 10:30 and Sportsline Extra at 11:30.

Is it just me, or is Sky News referring less to breaking news on its ticker at the moment?

It's just that quite a lot of breaking news that appears on the ticker is not mentioned at all by the presenters.

I noticed that too. The ticker is always the one ahead! Laughing A particular breaking news had already been scrolling for awhile before Kay mentioned it and the swoosh came on, from then on the ticker flipped back to the standard ticker.

Anna doing a good job for the flood story tonight. Gillian a bit poor again on breaking stories. 100s stranded by the way in Sheffield.

Sky News is being shown live on the website, on Sky Live News and Events, with tonights Sheffield flooding.

Sky appear to be focused on to this important news story a little bit more than N24 and they've had some long distant shots of the rescue where as bbc has had a lot of stills.

Anna just said there service for the emails is on the virge of collapse, because of the many emails being sent in, seems very dramatic, and good coverage from Sky speaking to many people.

Considering all the flooding was well reported on Look North 3 hours ago and everyone in Yorkshire knows it has been raining all day, I'm not sure why the news channels are now calling it 'breaking news'

They should definally have some pictures at least on BBC News 24 as they showed loads on Look North
