This '15 minutes' format strikes me as a major mistake. The immediate impression it gives me is that it's the kind of skeleton service you'd expect at 3am, and that they won't be as responsive to breaking news. Whilst I haven't watched enough of it lately to really tell if that's the case, and I'd hope/assume that it doesn't, it certainly creates a big enough prejudice for me to stick to N24.

From what I've watched of Sky News recently, there is quite a difference between overnight and normal hours. I think the 15 minutes promo is more to compete with News 24s 'News every 15 minutes'. The promo is also well made IMO.

Indeed, it does seem to be a direct counter to the News 24 version.

There is no doubting, technically it's an excellent peice of video with evident post production effort being put in (although the breaking news strap seen on the screen - as some have already said - seems a little bizarre).

I take issue more with the tone of the advert. For me, and this is purely objectively, it seemed slightly patronising. Of course the congestion charge will still be there - oh and incidentally not everyone lives in London, don't you know.

I suppose I find myself agreeing with the comments prior that it doesn't really inject alot of 'energy', so commonly associated with a rolling news channel. It also seemed an odd decision for Gillian Joseph to be featured, she's not -from memory- one of the channels big, hard hitters, is she? Perhaps the likes of Stanford would have better suited a campaign fronting the channel and its aims.

We'll have to wait and see but it certainly didn't win me over.

Good God! I can't believe the hype and laquer that Sky are placing on the Wills / Kate split.

All of a sudden, Ashish Joshi is telling us that the split was inevitable and that there were several cracks in the relationship, etc, etc....

Merely a few hours ago, the same Joshi appeared "stunned" at the split and the fact that a fairytale Royal engagement was no longer likely.

Who is the blonde lady reading the overnight bulletins just now?

Martin Stanford back this morning looking nice and tanned. It's amazing how a dodgy website caused so many rumours.

Good to have him back.... the rumours of one of Sky's top presenters not being happy with recent changes and the wiki story - I feared he had gone..
