Has anybody seen the "15 Minutes" adverts on Sky News for the 8-10 programmes?
Its basically people in various places and a VO saying "In 15 minutes you could find out.." followed by Gillian saying "This is Sky News, 15 minutes every 15 minutes" But, if you look at the ticker, theres no yellow, and its breaking news. Its a white rectangle with BREAKING NEWS in a bold teal colour and then the writing is alot smaller and white, with the overall colour of the ticker being black. It looked much better.
Saw it earlier, the graphics do look a lot better on the advert than what we currently have!I still find the whole concept quite irritating,Sky News with Martin Stanford was quite a good programme.By the way has Martin Stanford vanished off the face of the earth?Haven't seen him since he was doing the Budget graphics at the newswall.

Can't believe there using the 15 minutes talk again. This is something News 24 used in it's launch days. "In 15 minutes 2 nations can go to war" etc etc.
Managed to watch Sky News this morning for the first time in ages, and certainly the first time since the graphics revamp, etc.
My immediate opinion: Very Tabloid. Very Daily Mirror. (Black and red). These initial thoughts were immediately confounded moments later when Emma Crosby used the term "boob job" in a piece to camera, read from the newsdesk.
I thought "breast enlargement" would have been a more appropriate term for a television news anchor unless, of course, Sky News wants to be a televisual tabloid.

The BBC is where your looking for if tabloid and "common" isn't your thing, down the corridor, turn left, and keep going down, until you start to here the queen's english coming from the rooms!

This '15 minutes' format strikes me as a major mistake. The immediate impression it gives me is that it's the kind of skeleton service you'd expect at 3am, and that they won't be as responsive to breaking news. Whilst I haven't watched enough of it lately to really tell if that's the case, and I'd hope/assume that it doesn't, it certainly creates a big enough prejudice for me to stick to N24.
