This Iranian Hostage crisis is clearly the major story at the moment, with Sky and the Beeb devoting large amounts of their air time to it, so its interesting to see that neither have been able to get new crews into Tehran. The BBC obviously already have a bureux, but with only one correspondent, but havent sent anyone else. Meanwhile, Fox have got someone in there, surely Sky or the BBc would have tried to send teams to Iran, does anyone know if there are restrictions etc stopping them?
I can only imagine the visa situation is proving particularly difficult at the moment. Visa situation with Iran really isn't very good under normal circumstances anyway.
Sky are probably kicking themselves for not setting up a bureau there. They really are useless when it comes to international bureaux.
That said, I don't feel as though the BBC have used their correspondent to the full. Obviously there are a lot of outlets to cover, but they ought to be making people aware that they're the only broadcaster with a correspondent there. Equally, Sky and ITN should be informing viewers that they are trying to get correspondents there but they are being held up by the visa situation (assuming they are).

Isn't Julian Manyon in Tehran for ITN?
Ah he may be. Not seen much of ITN's coverage to just an assumption on my part.
I would of thought they would have linked up with the FOX News team in the region and did it that way rather than having no-one out there at all. After all FOX do it to Sky all the time for major events in Britain like the Soham Murders and 7/7 etc.

Been surprised by the lack of coverage of the kidnapped BBC reporter.
I've noticed this too - I guess it's the BBC not wanting to look like it is giving it too disproportionate coverage and are erring on the side of caution - like how I think there was some fuss over the BBC strike a while back being given too much air time.
Also, because of the complete and utter lack of silence on the kidnappers part, I guess its difficult to have anything new to say.
