Yes, it doesnt spin as often either. But it really is pointless now. The date is displayed for no more than a few seconds before it spins to show the clock (which stays there, without spinning for much longer). Why not just drop the date? I suppose that justifies the spinning cube.
Its still an awful mess, I can not understand why they focused on the logo when font sizes and capital letters seriously need looking into.
I like the idea of showing the date, but I did get annoyed to find when I wanted to see the time, the date was on screen, so now, i am happy, although i wish the clock had white to the left and right to match the Logo
A change has been made to the date and time... as the tower spins the date and time spin aswell. I think it changed at 10am... can't remember seeing it before.
Now that looks a lot better. Rather than having them spinning independently at seemingly random intervals and looking kind of naff, the two rotate together and looks neater. Not rocket science is it?
Since reading the previous message I've kept an eye on that area of the screen for a couple of minutes and while the spinny logo is still going round and round and round, the time is staying where it is and not spinning to the date. It's now 26 minutes after midnight on the 8th
Is there any consistancy to this new look?
Perhaps the name of the channel should be changed to "Sky News Beta Edition"!
It just keeps changing - shouldn't that happen before a launch of re-style?

Actually the first few weeks after a re-launch is usually a time for tweaking what does and doesnt work on-air in a live environment.
Look at BBC News and their clock, its just one of those things. I know i'd rather a graphics set be tweaked continuously to improve things, than errors and problems remaining.

News 24 made one minor tweak and one major one as far as I can remember - they lowered the LIVE bug, and moved the clock. They didn't keep on tinkering with the same thing over and again like Sky seem to be doing with their tower at the moment.
I've got a new name for Sky's graphics - Duplo graphics! Big colourful and clunky, and easy for toddlers to use.
Anyone noticed that the graphics have all been moved down now? im guessing the ticker has just been lowered meaning the straps tower/time went down too.
The new logo/date/time spin looks quite nifty - now there's actually a point to the logo spinning, and it doesn't do it so often which is great.
I have to say the graphics have grown on me quite a bit. They do look quite clean and tidy - although I'd like to see a yellow and black strap to make proper breaking news stand out.
I'm still not keen on the impact-style font though. Thankfully it's not used very often - but when it is, I don't think it goes too well with the regular font.
The font isn't actually that bad. I can see why it's described as "Impact-like" but Impact is a really ugly typeface, and this is a heavy weight of Helvetica Narrow, which is a really nice font, a slightly less bold version being what they use on BBC Sport.
The reason why it doesn't look so good on Sky News is that they've been using it badly in some nasty-looking graphics. If they had a look at what Sky Sports did with their adapted HD version of the Champions League graphics and came up with something a bit more like that, a bit more 3D (dare I say it, a bit more Windows Vista-like!) then that font could still be used and it'd look really nice.
Overnights were recorded last night. From midnight to 1:00am the clock turned with the tower then from 1:00am - 6:00am they used a static clock over the recored one.
Ive noticed the headline wipe transition doesnt have a logo anymore, just a red bar swiping left to right. Also nice to see Lorna and Steve back together!
