Is it back now? Are there any changes? If not, any idea why it went down?
No its back, in all of its rotating horror! It went off during Sportsline (10.30pm) last night and returned just before 11pm.
But then the ticker and tower disappeared again this morning, around 8.15am, before reappearing exactly the same at 8.30am.
Unsure what is going on but theres certainly no significant tweaks, but hopefully they are coming...

There is currently no tower, time or ticker on Sky News. Maybe they are in the process of "tweaking" the new design.

A reminder of how pretty the newsroom/studio is... Notice the design of the stairs!

The rotating cube has got to go, no matter what they do! It simply has no point.
In fairness, contrary to what some people have said here these are not the worst astons Sky News have ever had. That award goes to the set introduced in October 2001, as they were originally unvieled. Massively oversized, the horrible "slug", and they really did take up the whole "lower third" of the screen. Thankfully they were revised and made smaller, though they were still ugly until they disappeared in October 2005. Whats on screen at the moment is positively tasteful compared to them.

Do you think Sky News will say "and goodbye to our Virgin Media viewers" at 11:58 tonight?

I'd be very surprised if they didn't run an advert for how to join Sky especially for Virgin Media customers. VM would technically be powerless to even cut the feed prematurely, as the contract for transmission of the Sky channels runs right up to midnight, and not before.
