Anyone spotted what part of the graphics have been tweaked since Paul posted:

I noticed they had moved the weather box slightly to the left during sunrise this morning. It was slightly better but I still could not see the degree symbol - but on Sky1 it is fine...

They've moved the Live/Location bug further to the right. On my 4:3 TV, we're now live in "NOTTINGHA"
Can't see anything other than that. It's all still horrible.
Edit: On the Viewpoint Blog, this paragraph by Paul Bromley made me chuckle:

Sky News has never been about maintaining the status quo.
The channel and its staff have always been drivers of change - pioneering countless innovations in the way breaking news is reported that have been copied by our rivals.
Maybe it's a good idea to maintain the status quo, if the status quo entails better graphic design.
I think the best think for Sky News to do now is to quietly (and quickly) reintroduce the previous graphics.
Ok they were not perfect but they were far better than this mess. Of course I know this is unlikely as Sky would be the last company to admit they were wrong but we could then all pretend that this new look was just a terrible nightmare ...or have some people already been scarred for life?
Ok,after watching them for 2 days I can say they are not that bad at all. We all expected too much,I thought they will have some new title colors, but it's almost the same. I don't get all the fuss about the spinning logo,I love it. The black thicker is easier to read and goes well with the new look. I love how the opening titles spin. One thing they should do is use the new logo all the time, and on the newswall.
Of course as most of people on the board I don't like the black/yellow breaking news thicker. It doesn't match the rest of the look and they should either use it on the newswall too or ditch it and use red.
Wow, I was expecting something much better than this. They look like a rushed job, with no effort and tasteless. I would not expect this from Sky News, just look at their graphics and astons, and compare them with BBC News 24's. Which one is better now, the beeb's.
The ticker font is far too large, I would have expected some sort of gradient for the black background. Their LIVE bug at the top right, looks like BBC News 24's old one.
Well - I personally wouldn't mind one or both news channels going entirely without graphics (save captions to indicate the names of people speaking).
Certainly tickers on news channels are completely unnecessary - there are so many alternative ways to get news (both have interactive video loops, text, websites and email / SMS alerts) - besides the headline summaries are so frequent and average viewing times so short they really add *nothing*.
Most viewers hate channel DOGs, and the on-screen clocks are of negligible importance - News 24's clock is now so small that in 16:9 letterbox on a 4:3 set its difficult to read from the other side of the room, and the one underneath the Sky Rubik cube disappears is discarded half the time in favour of the date.
Coming back to the redesign - I'm puzzled why they even thought they needed to change what they had before. They've only had the latest set for 2 years and they were designed to fit the studio.
I suppose they commissioned a 'focus group' who told them "Its not obvious enough when there's breaking news" (sorry - BREAKING NEWS)".
Even Sky Sports News looks wonderful compared to this... which makes me wonder why when Sky Sports take so much care over their graphics (OK, they have a tendency to go over the top on the animation), Sky News can produce something so amateur.
(Sky Sports incidentally have the perfect solution for promotion the website, the logo appears at the bottom of cricket scorecards etc. then animates into the web address.)
With them using the yellow I have noticed that they flash everything up a breaking news.
I just sent them a text to say my cat has farted so expect to see that flashed across the screen in a few minutes.
Last night they had breaking news that the train driver felt lucky to be alive or something (not only is not breaking news but its also stating the bloody obvious!), now they have the space shuttle is being taken off the launch pad because it is pissing is down with rain.
They need to learn that less can sometime be more.... never mind only 27 hours to go before it leaves my channel line up!
Plus, how can the viewers expect to stay with them if they keep changing the format, Martin Standford used to have extended interviews that explored news in more depth, now that had been dumped for everything you need to know in the next 15 minutes. This is not going to target the same audience and so we have no idea whats going on.
I hope they return it to freeview one day (after its dumped from the line up) its completly mad.
EDIT: They seem to have replaced that god awful sting (the blue lines one they have had for a few months). Its now back to the good old globe, and a glassy logo. The web address is below the logo.
