Quite frankly one of the worst rebrands I think I've ever seen on British Television. Everything is just wrong.

The tower's a clear carbon copy of Fox News, plus it spins far too fast, far too often and for no reason whatsoever. It wouldn't be so bad if the date, time and URL changed at the same time as the tower spins, like it does on Fox. Otherwise it just looks silly.

The black ticker is horrible, how depressing is that? Plus none of the astons line up with the tower either. At least on their previous tower a few years back, the astons actually lined up with the various sections on said tower. It doesn't even do that this time round.

I'm assuming that it is Mr Ryley that approved these changes..

The man is burying the channel....

They have just taken the design for the train stations and transferred them to the TV. Vile, vile, vile.

It's like they've taken the worst elements of the old News 24 look, added a bit of Fox News along with some inspiration from The Sun, stuck on some nasty colours, oversized it all and hey presto, new look Sky News.

Ghastly.

The ticker looks good on a 4:3 set - the black background blends into the letterboxing

And, lo...Sox News was born.

I haven't had the good fortune *ahem* to see the new graphics on the telly, but looking at the screengrabs...

Come on, somebody's having a laugh, aren't they? Somebody can't have been paid serious money for that effort, surely?

It looks dreadful - and yet, it could actually look pretty damn good despite the colour scheme, as Martin's pre-mocks have shown.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to join those who reckon that the channel is being run into the ground - and will eventually be relaunched as "Fox News UK".

I see Paul Bromley has responded... well kind of...

Thanks for all your comments so far. Not only have I read them all but I have also passed them on to the senior news executives, senior studio staff and the graphic designers.

The response doesn't look too positive there either.

I'll bet there is some unhappy graphics designers this morning - especially if they have read this thread.

Apart from the hideous yellow ticker I don't dislike them that much. They just do look a bit odd

It looks odd to have the entire width of the screen not taken up with graphics, there's a big gap to the left of the logo.

The inconsistancies between the super'd graphics and those mixed onto the picture. One example I've just noticed is the e-mail comments boxes - the line underneath the boxes doesn't line up with the top edge of the 'aston' for example. And unlike the last lot where graphics like that were designed at the same time as the astons/ticker they matched textually but not any more.

Also don't know if it was a one-off cock up but they obsured the Qatar Airways sting with the ticker (surprised they're still sponsoring Sky when they've doing the same to AJE now)

Edit: just noticed, when the 'aston' strap has white at the top and red at the bottom it lines up with the logo, when it flips so that red is at the top it doesn't! Rolling Eyes
