A theory: Rupert Murdoch wants to get rid of Sky News.

First he takes it off Freeview, then he (or one of his minions) introduces the worst set of new graphics I've ever seen. They are absolutely awful. Sky News's graphics have been pretty poor for the last 5 or 6 years, but these are just dreadful.

Clearly he now wants to deter viewers. And to think they won News Channel of the year.

AND...they've copied that terrible locator aston thing News 24 had. The width of the 'LIVE' bit limits the amount of text you can put underneath.

Of course! Its so obvious! Move it onto one platform, and make it the ugliest looking thing on the whole EPG!

I am beginning to wonder that myself.
Surely, they realise that it looks as cheap as chips themselves??
I actually liked the last revamp when they moved studios. I hate the new titles with the countdown and think it must be this new news boss that is leading his team towards extinction!

Sky News graphics have looked rubbish for years. Cheap, 2D, lacking in texture or warmth. I assume they've done research - maybe people like them because they're simple.

The graphics strangely remind me of a newspaper.

I doubt they've done research after tonight's offerings and while they have never been fantastic - the latest set of titles have no imagination whatsoever.
At least they'll have decent viewing figures tonight. However, I would hate to be Paul Bromley tomorrow morning when he checks his inbox. I think they will not be good reading for him and his chums at Grant Way.
If any of you feel like contacting him - try paul.bromley@bskyb.com. Perhaps he'll take note of our thoughts??

Hmm.... the new dog that's on in the top corner of the screen now is nice.

Yes, a tabloid newspaper was the first thing that I thought.
They really are awful.

Notice that during the CBS Evening News the DOG is top right - looks nice.

Aye, just for during CBS Evening News. There's no ticker either.

Well it's the logo used for when Sky News crosses to CBS News. It's not a stacked one. Another inconsistency.

My views: I think Sky News has really taken a huge step back with these graphics. There's nothing special about them at all. The ticker and logo are OK - the black background is quite swish as is the tower (without the pointless spinning effect).

The yellow breaking news graphic is just awful. Perhaps if the boldness was turned down or the size reduced it would look a little bit more respectable.

I like the Coming Up graphics. Although unpopular on here, I've always liked the 3D sort of thing and the font is certainly an improvement on previous. The stacked logo at the end is nice too.

Overall, there are some good points but to be honest it's just not good enough (IMHO) for News Channel of the Year.
