I too thought of both The Day Today and Blankety Blank.
I am not going to rip into it, not with it being day one.
Suffice it to say that they have killed the things I loved about Sky News.

Arrow Jeremy seemed really stumbly today (is he missing Anna? - I know I am).
Arrow Gillian - why? (when they have Anjali, Paula, Juliette etc - all much better presenters). [I did not get to see Ginny, so no comment there]
Arrow Eamonn was better than I expected though. The music and set are good (although there is a bit too much movement - that will settle down).
Arrow Not keen on the blue boxes, but the straps are OK, especially if they go back to 2 line guest details.
Arrow I think they will keep holding stories for their primetime segments - that I don't like.

I think they have given News 24 one heck of an opportunity to beat them once and for all. Do the folks at News 24 have the ability to take the opportunity?

I like the new look, the raphics are fresh ad clean, given a few eeks of tweaking and finding their feet, i think it will be much better.

Much need refresh.

What I though i heard was overnight they will present with the desk facing the newsroom or the gallery? This true?

And does anyone have the orinigal artists impression, just to compare it to the final product!

Same as usual, it seems. The newswall image had been softened up a bit with a blue tint. I suppose we may have to wait until Sunday ot see if the studio's had any changes.

It does look good but they do need to do something about some of the camera angles and lighting. I guess this is a problem from having a rotating desk and no fixed camera positions lined up for shots. Some of the lighting looks really bad with some shots with virtually no fill lighting.

I'm liking the extended paper review. It always seemed too rushed just before midnight.

Is the awful weather CSO a consequence of using a set to do too many things, including being ready for a vast number of camera shots, without being able to light any of them very well? :p

I'm surprised I've not noticed the noise more today, actually.

The extended paper review was probably the best bit of the day - 30 minutes of intelligent, informed, relaxed, and reflective coverage of what has happened in the day and what is to come tomorrow. I think after a day of watching people standing up, walking around, rushing to cover stories, it was very refreshing to see just four people sitting at a desk.
