Congrats to the team at Sky News. They've had a rough couple of months, and as mentioned earlier this should give them a boost. With the new look ariving soon, this should also give them a boost! Once again congrats!

“The jury felt that the winning channel had re-emerged as vibrant and innovative and frequently first with the news. The jury was impressed by its immediacy, impact and the variety of its coverage. Big stories anchored by experienced presenters were supported by sharp and intelligent reporting and well judged analysis.”

I hope Sky do not see this as a sign that the channel is heading in the right direction and decide to stick with Sky News Today behind a desk and 15 min news summaries.

Have to admit, much as I've always been more of a Sky News kinda guy, this award is not really well deserved. The past year has been pretty shambolic. They need a kick up the arse, not a pat on the back.

Completely agree. It's a bit bizzare, a little like how Eastenders has managed to keep on winning 'Best Soap' over the past few years in one of those award shows, despite the general consensus against it.

But, as has been mentioned, 'News Channel of the Year' isn't exactly a category of hot competition.

Wasn't there once some suggestion of perhaps opening the category up to include international news channels broadcast in the UK so that the award had a little more credibility to it?

Maybe it's a sign of how bad N24 actually is! Many will say N24 should have walked away with that award....what happened.

Unbelievable. Absolutely not deserved. Sky has become a shambles. N24 are walking all over them.

It's great how people assume they know more than the RTS panel!

Let's just accept it...Sky News are now the 'News Channel of the Year'.

News24 have lost it!

Just had a look and can't find it. Also noted there is no press release yet on the RTS awards.
