Well, she is "the face of Five" afterall.

She's also employed by Five, not Sky, IIRC!

The rot set in when Bob Friend retired and they lost Lisa Aziz and Vivian Kreiger (Sp?). They lost too many established and popular presenters in a short space of time. For all her faults Kay is the only person I associate with SKY News that still works there.

Anyone working at Five News is employed by BSKYB.

Actually i believe she is contracted to five, hence why she was able to move from ITN to Sky News when five changed provider. I believe she has a similar contract to Trevor McDonald, who when on the news was actually contracted to itv instead of ITN.

You could well be right. But I do know that when many staff who moved from ITN to Sky with Five News, so did their contracts. It's a fairkly painless task so any move between news providers wouldn't provide any massive obstacles.

Just a thought, but maybe the "new way of alerting you to breaking news" is a type of Sky Breaking News sting, like what CNN use.

Wouldn't be that new for Sky though. They did used to have a sting to introduce breaking news. It was ditched in the late 90s, though.

It sounds as though this set of graphics is going to be a bit more 'intelligent' than the previous ones.

I can see colour coding working for the very regular viewer, but for the passing viewer I think it could be quite confusing.

Would be interesting to know whether the graphics have been designed by journalists or designers. I suspect the latter, and that's why they'll probably be changed within a few weeks when the journalists realise they can't work with them very easily.

I wonder if this colour coding, is within a small group of colours, like yellow, orange, red, purple, or the full spectrum of colour.

It all sounds intresting, but Paul Bromley is keeping quiet, he doesn't seem to be telling us anything else Laughing
I agree that these graphics sound alot better, I presume the redesigned ticker means they've got rid of the blue, thank goodness.

That would also link in with the 'fins' that were build into the set. Bit wasted if they just randomly change colour now. However linking them in with onscreen graphics would be a good idea.
