IMO they tried to change everything to make it seem *new*, but in fact a lot of their old schedule worked well. Big mistake was to split their best presenting pairs.
Although, have to admit, Lunchtime Live works, as did Martins show...both were/are clearly Sky News, but different enough.
It no longer seems like a confident opperation as it once was...when they lost top presenters a la Kaplinsky, McCoy and when Bob Friend retired...they didnt seem to care too much...there were no high profile appointments when they all left...was a mistake IMO.
The evenings were always going to be difficult...its not just news progs to contend with, but soaps dramas and current affairs...by trying to follow a more American CNN model in the evenings just doesn't work here.

nothing's really been the same since the relaunch has it? Big fancy studio aside, it'll probably go down as the most ill-fated ever.

I may be wrong, but as far as I'm aware, the clock's been like that since the relaunch. I'm sure I read something about them doing it because people say "six twenty-five", for example, instead of "eighteen twenty-five".

Just found this video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzafWs1bsHA
That, without all the "fluff" is how Sky News Today should be, and I hope it reverts to this format when Martin moves back to Sky News Today tommorow. Its highly unlikely, but I read somewhere it was Martins idea to have the Pocket PC's, so he might persuade the bosses to go back to this more enjoyable opening!

I hope they return to that format or at least to the one when they stood at the Lunchtime Live desk and one of the presenters walks to the main desk. I don't know why did they stop doing that. Ths current format is terrible, like weekend news sitting at the desk all the time with very short headlines. And why did they stop using logos for SNT and Live @ 5?

I liked it when they used the Sky News Today and Live at 5 logo's on the newswall, I agree totally with "ginnyfan" aswell, why did they stop using the Elbow? It wasn't as good as the newswall opening, but it was better than sat at the desk for hours on end. I'm not saying I want Anna or Julie walking down the stairs as Ginny did all those times before, and I dont want the fluff every hour. But now Sky News is totally lifeless on a afternoon. They should use the camera shots used on The Sky Report, just because the programme has finished doesn't mean they can't use the shot. Sky News before the relaunch had presenters stood infront of the desk, It could easily work now. As could a camera stuck in the newsroom, with a diffrent shot of the newswall.

I hope the graphics changes have a decent place for the website address, at the relaunch when the URL was in the left hand corner it looked fine. But of course it had to be chaned because of widesreen problems.

So, Sky News Sunrise will be back on Sky One, 17 years after they stopped simulcating it.
This is obviously a cost cutting exercise and one that quite frankly I was expecting about 2 or 3 years ago. Sky One doesn't get good enough ratings to justify putting anything other than Sky News on. Plus, Sky News is an expensive operation these days, much more so than when they first launched,so there's economic sense in having the output simulcast on Sky One as well.
I imagine as well that some of Sky One's overnight output may well be replaced by Sky News, although that would not be promoted, and again it would be because they are already spending a lot of money on producing Sky News, they may as well show it on Sky One as well rather than using other material that they would have to pay for, hence, keeping costs down.
