They have completely gone out of their minds down at Osterley.
They sure have.. This is one of the strongest parts of the schedule at the moment.
I don't even like the 15 minute wraps at the weekend, now we've got them 7 days a week.

The content of the 2000-2200 hours will change to give you a full summary of news, sport and weather in 15-minute cycles, similar to the programming on weekend afternoons.

Sorry I don't understand... The MG article says Sky will be using compression to squeeze four channels out of the existing three. So Sky News will not be disappearing.

The four channels will be four new channels covering live Premiership footy off of Sky Sports 1, movies off of Sky Movies, and the best of the stuff on Sky One.

Christ almighty.
I think this is BSkyB's way of admitting defeat. Sounds like they don't care about the channel any more because it makes no money and has lost most of its influence.
Even though it has lost them fortunes in the past, they always seemed to let it off because important people watched it and valued it as a news service. Now News 24 has come in (although I still maintain it is just crap) and taken most of the audience and most of the opinion formers it seems as though there is no value in it.
Will be interesting to see the viewing figures just take a skydive when the BARB figures come out though. *sigh*
I only hope that the website relaunch makes up for the DTT departure, though given their track record with design you really have to expect the worst.

As someone who far prefers News 24 over Sky News - especially since the relaunch of Sky News - I am really against this.
The BBC has always performed better when it's had strong competition. Before ITN launched, BBC TV News was laughable, and only upped it's game after News at Ten came along.
News 24 was launched as a result of Sky News and has always followed in it's path. I don't like Sky because of it's slightly tabloid style, and the fact that I inherently don't trust news from people who make their money by promoting products between their programmes. But I've always thought that Sky News have done what they do very very professionally.
This is a nail in the cofin of Sky News and the talented people who work there must be floored by this lack of support from their management.

This all sounds really bad. Why do they always have to change their prime time shows? Martin's show was great, a look back at the stories making the headlines, interesting debates and viewer's thoughts. Now we'll get 2 hours of headlines every 15 minutes.
It's so boring I hoped they will move that from weekends and now it will be even on weekdays. Maybe Lorna will get that slot.
Where's Julie Etchingham? Maybe she left, I wouldn't be suprised.
