So... an 'impact-style' font, gradients instead of solid colours, a stacked logo that might revolve... I've fed all that into my Newscorp identikit computer, and this is what it came up with...

Oh dear... let's hope it's malfunctioning.

Cat - I agree with your point. I'd say that Sky News presenters tend to get shuffled out of prominence with far greater regularity than elsewhere. Obviously Kay Burley's doing well on lunchtimes, though.

And it does have its advantages... I never watch Sky News until later in the day so, for me, Eamonn Holmes doesn't exist.

Hmm. I actually can see sky going that way, and making everything look awful. I like an idea of maybe a revolving tower; but witht he fox style/american style chunky graphics which would come with it, it would probably look awful.

I'd love one of the news channels to adopt a "less is more" approach to their graphics. News 24 are going in the right direction, but it still seems to be the in thing to cram as much on screen as possible.

Note to Sky: Big 3D graphics, OTT animations and things whizzing around do not make more people tune in. Simple as.

I hope Sky don't adopt a spinning logo, i find it far too distracting. I can not watch Fox news for more than a couple of minutes, due to my eyes being constantly drawn to the spinning logo in the corner rather than the 'news'.

I never actually realised there was any 'news' on Fox News anyway.

By less is more, do you mean, like a national news bulletin.

No, I mean graphics that don't take up half of the freakin screen. I don't need flashy sequences and big bold letters to keep my attention, thank you very much.

have sky won the contract for news at the stations off the BBC then? Are all the big screens being changed over to Sky?

They went to Sky News yesterday

I have been experimenting with taking those Train Screen graphics, and making them smaller for use on the channel...

VERY nice M. That's the cleanest, classiest look I've seen for a Sky mock on these pages. I especially like the darker blue. Sky have debated for a while whether the addition of black into their OSG's would lead to a classier look and I think this takes it in the right direction without losing the brand.

First time I see Gillian Joseph outside her slot, and on weekends. Maybe Lorna'll take her slot and she'll stay on weekends.
