It's a quarter to half past Kay Burley, and Conservative MP Sir Norman Fry is about to make a press conference.

"At approximately 9:59pm on Monday the 8th of January, I was being interviewed in the Sky News gallery by a journalist. As Francis Wilson was explaining the strong gust of wind bashing into the Pennines, I accidentally slipped onto the camera controls and a part of the journalist entered me. As far as I am concerened, that is the end of the matter."

OK perhaps not, but it sounds less boring than a technical glitch.

Click.

What happened next? Was everyone ready for the early TOTH? Did Francis Wilson get away from the news wall in time for the headlines? Was there any mention of the problem at all?

Yes, they were ready. Francis was gone and as far as I saw, there was no mention. Personally I would've preferred to see Francis darting out of the way, the presenters nibbling cookies and someone screaming "SH*T!!" but hey, can't have everything!

I don't like the latest TOTH for Sky News. It doesn't seem to have any impact at all. Sky News always used to take advantage of their excellent music and seemed to be pushing their brand every hour. This latest incarnation looks weak and ineffective. I do hope they change it soon.

So do I, its got no tune, even though there was a version of the new TOTH produced with the duuu duuu duuu duuuu sky news theme they dont use it, and it just sounds awful, bland and boring.

Hawkins replaces Lorna Dunkley who is moving from Sunrise to Sky News Weekend . Dunkley joins Emma Crosby, Steve Dixon, Mark Longhurst and Chris Roberts in presenting Sky News' weekend programming.

Would this perhaps suggest a new weekend programme called "Sky News Weekend"??

This is what the original press release says
Quote:
In another move, Sky News presenter Lorna Dunkley is going to Sky News Weekend, from Sunrise, to strengthen further the weekend presenting line-up. Lorna, who broke live on-air the news of the 7/7 bombings and the foiled airline terror plots last August, will join Emma Crosby, Steve Dixon, Mark Longhurst and Chris Roberts presenting Sky News’ weekend programming.

...to suggest that Lorna Dunkley single-handedly foiled a terror plot.

Didn't see that coming. As far as I am concerned she has been carrying Holmes since he joined. I have said before Sunrise should be hosted by Steve Dixon & Lorna Dunkley. Holmes can go back to gameshow presenting.

i agree, its a shame that Lorna has been moved, however I do enjoy weekend Sky news, they have the best people on it, compared to the over used week day staff

I've heard that they are re-branding 'Sunrise' as 'The Eammon Holmes Show'. Obviously in a bid to attempt to boost ratings. If they think by changing the name it'll make a difference, I think they'll be very much mistaken.
It's all rather dull and borning don't you think?

Interesting that they'd ditch one of their oldest brands in order for a presenter who I doubt will be there in 3 years time...but you never know.

Harks back to the Scott Chisolm Show on the ITV News Channel Laughing
