I haven't seen an example yet, but how do they do plural initials in upper case? E.g. does MPs become MPS?

No they use lowercase letters. ie GPs is on the ticker this morning.

Edit: The email & web address are also in lowercase

They've also been using the newswall lately to illustrate news stories, something they haven't done for a long time.

Indeed, interesting camera angles, and the Newswall 'rectangle box with video feed' is back on Lunchtime live too. Surprised

I'm using the sky digibox but signal the past few weeks here in the midlands has been atrocious.

I think you need to check your equipment. There's been no problem with Sky News on satellite that I'm aware of.
