Sky's coverage has been great and ahead of BBC's.

Not much credit considering the story's a non-starter.

It's just another excuse for all of the climate change sh it to come out.

Sky have been very good actually quickly getting rid of any connection between climte change etc, and at least sky havn't got a 1/2 hour special programme looking back at today's coverage as it happened in case you missed it all Rolling Eyes

Bed 2 has just een used for the tornado recap at 3.30.

BED 2! Its still alive in Osterly then! Yey!

I have to say, its been excellent coverage today. With the sky copter there, Francis blah'ing about weather fronts and the like. Really good coverage. Well done sky. Just need to go back to your old breaking news strap, and use some more interesting camera angles, and your sorted!

Was very suprised to hear the Bed 2 used, sounded great!
On the coverage, its been excellent, Sky put up their Breaking News strap out at around 12.20, BBC only talked about it at about 12.40 or near that.
Still shows sky are "first for breaking news"
Wonder how the ratings were

Read the Spinning the Globe post.
I hope the comments knock some ideas into Sky.

Doesnt that background suit the set, IMO. I wish they used that more often, like on realunch day, and graphics came up within a rectangle, very ITV News style... with the background behind it.

Yeah, on the relaunch day they had the pictures with white rectangle round them, which looked alot better, keeping in with the style of having everything in boxes.
Notice nearly every comment on the "Sky News Viewpoint" "Spanning the globe" blog, that every comment says Sky should revert back to the Globe and presenters standing up. As one post says, Live at 5 is suited to the desk, but Sky News Today is not.
On the subject of the newswall backgrounds aswell, how come the Sky News Today logo is never used on the newswall anymore?

By the way, glad to see on the above picture that theres some workers at those desks! Why dont they just have people walking past the newswall and working at the desks? I wouldn't mind that

That new desk in the soft area is a backward step, now it looks to me they are going backwards, putting their presenters behind desks, it looks silly!, why don't they use the main desk for the first half hour of Sunrise, then go up to the soft area for the last half!

I've not seen the weekend news for a while on Sky. So I was pleased to see that they seem to be making a bit of an effort, with lots of studio guests and analysis.

And it's all so much more 'watchable' since they dropped the 'Press red for active' straps and similar annoying graphics. Let's just hope they don't go overboard when the new website is launched next year.

The Stanford show really does look a hell of a lot better in the soft area. Is such a fantastic looking presentation area, it's amazing the don't use it more.

Looks like Sky News Intl started using the 'new' breakfiller music. Its infact the previous opening titles with the studios spanning at the starting, then to its full opening bed and fading to the coming up bed... Then it all repeats.
