First time I've actually scanned an entire thread ....

My comment The Graphics are Great but the content needs some tightening. I watched this morning's Sunrise till 0740 and have been watcing the 5 programme and agree with some posters that the content needs work.

I'll be very interested in the Rubin programme.

Oh and the 4:3 adverts irritate me too.

8/10 (could do better)

I ahve been fortunate enough to be in business in London today and have been able to watch quite a lot of the new output from 0600hrs onwards with Sunrise.

I have to say................I LOVE IT ALL!!!! I have no criticism yet whatsoever - the set, the graphics, the music and the presenters have all been fantastic. Surprisingly so. Even Mr. Holmes, who I traditionally don't like, was actually very good.

And I just LOVE the Sky News Today idea of having three presenters - it reminded me so much of Nationwide!!

Great job to all at Sky. Well done guys. You have really impressed this long term fan of the BBC!!

And the set...................sheer class!! All the glass and perspex works wonders.

I only noticed one mistake though - the first hour of Sky News Today opened with the "screen" embedded in the front of the desk still showing the Sunrise logo.

I am really loving this.

Firstly... I'm surprised that so many of you have nothing better to do first thing on a dark, rainy, Monday morning than sit capturing videos in a race to be the first with "the tv forum exclusive". I suppose there will always be some...

Secondly, I'm rather underwhelmed by this relaunch. As ever, it's all gloss and sparkle and lacking in detail. A news channel can only survive so long with an array of gimmicks.

The music is too loud and intrusive - almost drowning out the newsreader at points and the top of the hour to the first new Live @ Five was messed up. Typical.

Back to News 24 tomorrow - Sky News also seems to have increased the amount of ad breaks to one every 4 minutes. Tsk.

I think that overall the graphics are a vast improvement compared to the previous version, and it feels more professional. Though there are still a few bits that possibly need refining, however it's the first day and I'm sure some tinkering will be done. The red 'Live' and 'Latest video' astons don't feel quite right.

Looking at the weather at the moment we appear to be getting a forecast for USA mentioning just the hurricane in Florida.

Live from the sky news centre seems to be playing a big part in the v/os

"Live form the sky news centre, Sky News , with jeremy thompson " just aired at 6pm

previously at 6 it would have just been sky news with....

Is it just me or are they framing Jeremy Thompson too close to the cente of the screen?

I wish they would get the eyes on the upper-third - it just doesn't look right as it is.

Other than that - stunning. Looks really good.

Same as Five News was when it first launched. Suspect it will return to conventional, slightly nicer, framing when the fuss dies down. (Wonder if there are any US consultants involved...)

You would, if anything, frame the eyes slightly higher than normal if you are framing for a permanent ticker and strap.

Err - is that cos they look identical to the BBCs on-screen LIVE and LATEST VIDEO in a previous look?

Does anyone know yet how Sky News is now beeing shown on the international feed? Is it 14:9 or 4:3, and is the ticker still covered up?

I would expect it to be 4:3 - in 14:9 the bottom left dog would be cropped if it were present. Given that everything seems quite conservatively 4:3 safe then I suspect 4:3 centre cut will be the analogue compatible version.

First time I have ever actually posted on here, so be nice!

I was up, as were probably many at 4.45am. I am very impressed with the new studio and graphics. However, I am very disappointed with the TOTH sequence. The globe forms such a better intro, and the music seems to have been tamed! Having a tour, (i wouldn't know the technical way of describing it) is great, but I am already bored of it. Once it has panned and you have seen it once it becomes boring.

I have missed most of the daytime stuff, but I haven't seen the desk rotate as yet Sad I guess they are keeping some surprises for later!

They do seemed to have toned down the content somewhat, it seemed sunrise and what I caught of Sky News Today this morning were very 'magazine' style. I hope this was a safe 1st day bet, plenty of packages etc. IMO they also need to cut down on the banter.

The presenters seem to move around very frequently, this keeps the freshness but I can imagine the novelty wearing off. The different positions would still be useful though. Desk for Live at 5 and SNT, Balcony for Kay and Seating for Sunrise.

The only bit I have a real dislike with is th TOTH sequence and music, the whole thing needs to be a bit tighter. Looking forward to seeing WNT and my personal favourite Julie at 7 Razz

Overall score: 8/10
Certainly puts the newsrooms of the BBC and ITN into shame, and looks bigger and better than GMTV. I think over the coming month, when they all get used to it, and it all gets tighter it will get even better!

Simon -2nd post, coming soon!

I'm quite surprised people like this so much. I've only watched on and off during the day but I think the set is far too busy. Horizontal and Verticle elements distractingly leaping out of everyone's head.
And the countdown that roams around the studio before the top of the hour is just woeful.
"Excuse me I'll just fix this mike!"
"Hang on would you like a piece of important paper?"
And the weather is just incomprehensible.
