I also miss that, and all the exciting shots we used to have. Now there limited because the anchors are at the desk. As said by Greg Sky is known for its 'stood up' approach to news. It seems bland just sat at the desk for 3 hours etc. It would be okay if it had been like this since the relaunch but looking back at the pictures from the relaunch theres a much better feel to all of it, stood at the newswall or the pod etc.

Its all very well you thinking that is had a much better feel to it but they lost lots of viewers for the new style and so (I assume) after audience feedback they toned it down and have reverted to what people wanted... the news.
People don't watch Sky News, BBC News or CNN to be entertained, they switch to the channel to find out what is going on in the world. I agree having the newswall can make it easier to tell a story but its not an essential part of news presenting for every story.
I'm going to stop now because I'm starting to sound like those that always moan about a particular channel and I like watching Sky News because of the language they use when the tell a story. Not because they have a whoosh when they have breaking news or because they have a whopping great trophy on one of their end screens (whats that all about?!?!) but because they tell me the news in a clear and simple way.
As far as i was aware it was Channel Five that is know for its stand up news, they were the frist to that.

Im not saying Sky should be all swoosh, bang crash, lights, camera shots etc etc. I was just saying that they should have a SNT 2002 style presentation during the day, and then more formal during the evening.
Anna B presening sky news on her OWN!!!! (at the moment anyway)
On a more interesting note does anybody know whether the fact that they don't have any more 'adventurous' shots etc now is down to the more practical reason that they simply don't have the staff because of the cutbacks.
Also a slightly strained and hysterical new v/o for the sportsline bulletins this week i think...I'm not sure though.
The newswall is sky news, and reflects there audience on a daily basis. e.g. sky news attract a younger more liberal audience (apparently) to the BBc's older more conservative audience.
really? some of the emails they read out would suggest otherwise - going on those, their audience come across as right-wing Daily Mail types.
Im not saying they should go back to relaunch day shots were the presenters are in a diffrent part of the studio every shot, one minute walking down the stairs, one at the pod etc
Im just saying it was better at the newswall pod, they could do the top story there then go to the desk and do other stories from the elbow. The point is, yes there was ratings lost because off all the moving around in the studio but if Sky found a half between sitting at the desk for 3 hours and standing up for 3 hours - Sky News would be better. I would even like it if Sky News Today actually used the Sky News Today logo on the newswall or was actually called Sky News Today on the v.o!
Time shall tell.

Ahhh yes but its all about cultivating audience participation and therfore trying to get a gut reaction and if feeding views from a right-wing minority then so be it i suppose!?
Had fun watching Sky News yesterday, Julie was joking with another guest in their central london studio about having to refresh the page for the past 20 minutes. The shot was taken when the cam started zooming in from Julie to her screen, which I thought looked great. For a moment the camera was so close that the generic log on account info was visible and then they shifted the angle.
