Full marks to Sky for managing to be entirely incompetent in their coverage of the coup in Thailand today.
When a major international crisis develops, it is understandable if they cannot always be there in the city where it is happening, at the time it is happening. But when the story moves to London, a day later, and you can’t provide live coverage of the Thai PM getting off his plane, something is very seriously wrong with your planning desk.
Given that they have known he has been due to arrive in London since around 8am this morning, it is amazing that they didn’t bother to wander up to Gatwick to cover the event.
I’d expect APTN (who Sky have the contract with to provide live coverage across the UK for all AP clients) are somewhat pissed off that their contract holder couldn’t come up with the goods.
If Sky can get someone to Bangkok within a day, pretty poor that they can’t get someone to Gatwick in the same time period.

Absolutely. The most basic thing is to have news in your territory covered before anything elsewhere. I for sure would want my local news channel to be able to have live pictures of Thaksin arriving in London after what happened in Thailand.
I like the "So good they named him twice" comment...
EDIT: that video gives the wrong impression.. It looks like the 'get in touch with us' promo was played by mistake. I watched the start of the 8pm hour and Martin done the top stories etc with no problems..

Rupert Murdoch's Sky News has secured a deal with Labour to advertise on the neck-straps of security passes worn by delegates and visitors at next week's party conference in Manchester.
The move provoked hostility in the media and the union movement. A senior BBC source said: "They are living in a parallel universe if they think [BBC] journalists - or their equivalent at ITV come to that - are going to walk around advertising Sky News."
Paul Maloney, of the GMB union, said: "A lot of trade unionists would cheerfully strangle Murdoch with one of his own lanyards."
Chortle.
Though I have to say, we have our passes in our office and they contain no such logo, so a bit perplexing.

I only edited it for TOTH, I wasn't aware that the mate I gave it to to upload was going to put "Blooper" at the end.
