I haven't caught it since, so I don't know if it's a regular thing, but I was watching Sky News with Martin Stanford the other week, except Martin was off and Martin Popplewell was presenting (excellently too, may I add). The top of the hour sequence was bizarre - the usual fly around the newsroom as at every hour, but then straight away when the headline bed kicked in there was a wide shot of Martin with the voice of God introducing him, *before* the headlines. Is this normal?

You can all wake up now.

I do chortle at your definition of 'hideous'.

Perhaps you should try clicking this for my definition.

Yuck... I don't see why they cant just put it where they hae Active on the ticker.. I mean that isnt really important because it means nothing to viewers that arent with Sky Digital, and don't they have a red circle on the top right of their screens anyway?

Seen at 3.00 just now - the "NEWS" in the Sky News clock slides out to reveal ".COM/NEWS" in the red box - thus unveling the web address SKY.COM/NEWS.

It would appear to erm, appear at the top of every minute, and looks awful. Rolling Eyes

It's in a better place than it's previous locations

That is actually quite a neat solution. Taken them enough tries to get it right though hasn't it!!! Laughing

i agree it's quite good.

now all they need to do is stop putting the website address everywhere else now being as it's on screen visible all the time now. no keep scrolling it in the ticker as well would be nice, as well as on the headline straps - get back to what the headline actually is, not sky.com/news.

I believe so, from the odd occasion that i've seen it. Just like how Saturday Live used to be.

I always think the single line name strap looks better than the one that is forced above the current news subject. The sports bulletins normally uses a single line.

I don't really like the replacement for the old red and white 'slug'. They could probably reduce it to a single line ,or have it animate away when the name strap appears.

Apparently the scrolly DOG isn't quite enough plugging - the Breaking News strap now has "More at sky.com/news" towards the right hand side, in a weight and size that makes it almost unreadable.

Also, at the time of writing, the website has absolutely nothing about the story the strap is plugging.

Sky Sports News have also added their web address to the DOG in the right hand corner (now it shows the logo, the time and date and the URL).

I noticed, it looks weird that the Sky Sports News DOG now flips 3 times, they've also added the 'skysports.com' tag on to the TOTH ident, though to me it looks like they've added it at the last minute.

I watched Sky News for about 10 minutes this afternoon and turned over having got bored of the uber-promotion of the Sky News website. It felt as if the programme's only purpose was to promote sky.com/news.

In the event of breaking news, it's worth pointing out that THERE IS NOT "More at Sky.com/news". It is never going to keep up with the breaking story the way a live programme can.

Also, why promote one of the s hittest news websites (as far as news channels go) in existence, when you're planning to bring it up to scratch in the near future?

Everyone following the on-screen instructions will go to sky.com/news, realise it's **** and then ignore it when it gets fully relaunched.

Madness I tell you, madness.
