If you're daft enough to believe Labour MPs on Newsnight then should you really be watching BBC 2?
You don't get the Sun putting political stories on its front page like this unless they are 100% certain what's going on.
I thought Sky's coverage was very impressive - dozens of phone interviews lined up, a fantastic paper review sections, lots of two ways. The Pascoe-Watson interview came up about 3 times in 45 minutes at about 2 minutes a shot, and given it is pivotal to the whole story, I don't think that's excessive.

I watched Newsnight earlier on. Labour MPs have poo-pooed the story completely as it's most likely absolute ****, being the Sun, and all - although they are usually quite open-eared when it comes to Westminster.
I suppose Sky have more info as it's Rupe's empire.

I also think they have an excellent coverage o fthis story. Sunrise was very good with many guests in and out of studio. I like the balcony view but I hope they will bring back a voice over and a studio shot in the opening. Also the new weather presenter Isobel made her Sky News debute a few minutes ago.

Hang on, this is just a rumour from what is little more than a comic - miles away from a serious newspaper. And a comic that is owned by the same man that owns Sky. Hmmmm! Just a coincidence that Sky are all over it? Probably just to sell more copies of the Sun.
News 24 were not scared of reporting it, they covered it when it came out. What more was there to say? They discussed it as just one of the many rumours that was circulating, rather than swallowing it hook line and sinker as Sky seems to have done.
Also, if you read Nick Robinson's latest blog you'll see that he doesn't believe the Sun's guess - and as he's editor what he says goes.
I don't think anyone, not even Blair, is 100% certain what's going on. The Sun will put on its front page whatever it thinks will sell more papers.

Truly remarkable to compare Sky's coverage of the Sun's lead story tomorrow morning with News 24's.
News24 have given it about 20/25 minutes, and Sky have been going at it for the past 1 hour and 45 minutes. They are leagues ahead.
Almost looks like News 24 are scared of reporting or discussing it.

Having said that I a) don't think he'll survive this long, and b) even if he did, I think the date would be altered for the sake of annoying The Sun.
But there's no doubt whatsoever that if The Sun put this on their front page it's come from a very senior source, if not a deliberate piece of briefing from No.10.

I would put significantly more credence on a major political story that the Sun were reporting than the BBC (or most other news organisations, to be honest).

Why do I get the impression that those who mock the credibility of The Sun don't actually read it?

On a slightly random note, at the bottom of the hour on Martin Stanford's show, when the voice over announces 'on freeview, on cable, on the web etc...' we see a shot of the gallery. Is this actually a live shot, if so what camera could they be using? I cant think of one which would not have Martin sitting at the pod getting in the way of the view of the gallery.
