Not really a frequent view of Sky News, and it may be my new telly (not HD), but just noticed now that when Martin's at the newswall, the lines between the screen blocks are very very apparent. People moan about the gaps between those in the BBC's N6, but Sky's newswall is far worse. It's like there are thick black lines.

Colin Brazier did the three hours shift which started at 1700hrs, but all alone. I thought that slot now had two presenters?

It looks like they fixed the broken screen.

I love the new camera shot they use on weekends. Anything is better than that wide studio shot they've been using since the relunch.

When is Ryley taking over?

The original statement was that Pollard would step down at the start of September, but hasn't been anything about it mentioned anywhere, so can only assume that the changeover hasn't occurred.

Will be interesting to see if there are any significant changes when he takes over. Perhaps they'll wait for Julie Etchingham's return to do that though.

There will have to be some sort of change to the breaking news policy, I think. Breaking news straps are now totally indistinct from the rest of the graphics, and the left-overs from the original launch graphics are still hanging around. Impressive how Sky always manage to take a perfectly sound graphics package and within the space of a few months turn it into something totally incoherent and crap.

I wish Sky News would animate all their graphics (during reports etc). Fading them out seems a bit pointless when they have a perfectly good effect.

He left in July, Cat.

Oh I had no idea.

So, in two months, Ryley's changes to the channel have been to:

- Introduce a distracting website advert
- Tear to pieces the relaunch graphics package and introduce a confusing system mixing new and old
- Err...

Looking good.

he's also stripped away all the excesses of the relaunch and brought the channel back to basics, then again he's probably acting out the wishes of his superiors (and their budget cuts) on that score.

Does anyone else feel the weather at the newswall is getting a bit annoying?

I dont know what it is, but I just really dislike it being used all the time for it.
I liked it on the odd occasion, like Sunrise, then at World News Tonight
But now, its just realy annoying
