Given that this thread didn't start until 22 Oct 2005, it's possible no-one's come across these before:

There are more, which can be seen here.

Very clever work indeed from Sky - they have covered the broken screen by simply recreating the logo and slogan onto a black background.

I like the black background, it's better than the blue one.

Perhaps they can now flog the equivalent screen on the other side.

Hah, yeah the black makes it looks 'cool' and hides the part that broken down.

It does rather make you wonder what planet Sky News are on when they have, at various points over the past week, run segments on ''the future of television'' and presenters make comments about how broadcasting via the internet is the future, how the landscape is changing, how TV could be a dying medium... and all the while they have one of the worst websites of any major news broadcaster.

There was a time about 5 years ago when they tried to broadcast things live, but the server just crashed couldn't cope with demand, so they stopped. Since then, there has been not one live event broadcast, the design has hardly changed since 1998... it really is dismal. You'd have hoped that they would've spent a bit of cash on it when they moved house, but no.

From their TV coverage, you'd think they posessed a fantastic website with tonnes of video and live events, and instead it's all recorded and badly structured. Even the recent aquisition of Easy Net hasn't done much good... Sky.com got a new homepage, but that's the lot.

Can only hope that the new boss recognises the potential a little more.

They did this with the last set of graphics didn't they. Ditching the blue and going for the red and white colours on all straps.

Just thinking about it, how about for breaking news, use the first breaking news straps they used, white on top, and red under. Wink

thats a good suggestion because at the moment there is no way to ditinguish what is breaking news and what isn't with everything being the same.
