Has anybody noticed, there is a slight and rather annoying gap between the healine and details astons, I dont understand why they don't make the gap bigger, it would look much better.

Ohh, I dont like that.

Looks to me very much as if Sky are designing for 4:3 centre cut out - and only treating the bit between 4:3 and 16:9 as curtains. I guess they have to as most Sky boxes are delivered to output 4:3 centre cut...

Erm, didn't News 24 do something like that when they introduced their red and black graphics set?

whether this was because there was little news I'm not sure

This can never be used as an excuse. Whatever the news, programmes should analyse minor or major stories as creatively as possible and fill the time they have to make the show seem like any other. Besides, it's Sunrise, they have the whole of yesterday evening and overnight stories to cover, and in terms of that there were two major events to be covered from 6am - news coming in from Birmingham, and the hurricane sweeping Florida.

Not entirely convinced by the three presenters stood at a table chatting approach to news. Sure they kind of mulled over some of the issues - but to be honest I'm not that fussed what they think about Sainsbury's peanut brittle.

Not entirely convinced by the multitude of locations they are presenting from. It is a brave attempt at something new - but traditionally your main presenter shots, when done well, have been part of your programme's branding. If you have so many of them you dilute the brand - or risk doing so.

There are some inventive touches though. Scrolling the breaking news logo in the newswall neatly gets around any widescreen crop issues.

Also interesting to see, if anything, Sky being less radical with their graphics. Sky now looks a lot closer to News 24 than it did - it has definitely got a classier look in graphics terms now.

Not sure about the weather graphics - though at least the land is green...

A similar thing happened when MSNBC launched in 1996. For a while they used this great big set, walking all over the place, and presenting from random places for the sake of it. Today they rarely leave the desk.

I don't mind a bit of chat between the presenters, but it's a bit too chatty. Could be a first day thing, but standing around talking about not a lot, forcing themselves to laugh... it just seems awkward. There has been a lot of fluff today - Kate Bush, Sainsbury's thing, albums charts, etc - that could be obliterated entirely.

Well Ginny doesn't seem bad at all today. Obviously the rehearsals have done her the world of good. Still a bit shaky but a massive improvement.

As far as I know Sky News Aus/NZ only covered up the ticker overhere, I havent yet had a chance to see any Sky News UK on the tv here yet, although I can later on.

Looking at News Active this morning, they always have the International feed in the small screen on the first menu, and it was basically as you'd expect - an empty blue strip along the bottom with the logo in the bottom left.

bail, antz - i was just about to post the same thing. i downloaded the 'new' version (as bail linked to above) but it has the same ("old") graphics/logos on it - at least it does during the setup stages. haven't had any breaking news items thru yet so maybe it will change automatically.

Bad news - it hasn't changed. I've just had the alert through about the Baghdad bombs and it still has the old graphics & logos. Maybe they will release an updated version of the software soon for download.
