I have to say I'm liking the new live at 5 backdrop since they introduced it last week, would be good to see it used in News at 10

Oh have they ditched the newsroom view on Live at Five then - whats the new backdrop like?

Well its exactly the same, it looks like a zommed out version of the old one but darker and with a tinge of blue to it. Much nicer in my opinion

Yeah, I noticed this too, it does look more effective.

They could also just use diffeerent camera shots, as from from certain angles from the desk you can actually see into the gallery. Maybe they should reposition the desk and use that shot for the night news.

Could someone explain to me why Emma Hurd's report of a Israeli night-time operation is now being shown on BBC News 24 etc in full apart from the bit where she says 'Emma Hurd Sky news Southern Lebanon'. Johnathon Charles for the BBC, I'm sure said 'Emma Hurd reporting there for the BBC'...but sky are saying this is their exclusive?

I'm sure they did this during the Iraq War, when one reporter would do a report which would be used by Sky, ITN and the BBC.

What i can't understand though is that Emma is a sky reporter, and she obviously hasn't done a copy for the BBC becasue they cut it off before she does her sign off.

As onetrickpony says, the same report would be shared, so clearly the BBC (or anyone else) wouldn't use the Sky SOC at the end. And yes, this pooling of reports was used during the Gulf War. I remember seeing a few reports by Matthew Price on Sky News at the time. Also, the late James Forlong's notorious part-fabricated report was shown on News 24 (and possibly the ITV NC IIRC).

On a different note Anna did a piece from the newswall on the Middle East crisis and then spoke to Francis Tusa at the news desk with the skystrator, why though don't they put the skystrator and Francis up by the newswall pod, and Anna walk up to him after her pice at the other end?

Possibly because of the opening shot, where the camera zoomed across the newswall. And maybe they don't have the right connections from the Pod, I'm not sure.

It was clearly a pooled report - all broadcasters had access. Sky got the gig this time round. Next time it'll probably be ITN or the BBC. I doubt anyone feels too bitter about it - the audience recognition for news channel presenters is very low, let alone reporters.

If Jonathan Charles said that, he was probably having a laugh....

Does anyone happen to know whether there are any plans to stream Sky News on the web?

It would be very handy to be able to watch at work!

It's a shame that the studio cam only lasted for a week or two - haven't seen it on Active for ages.
