But what would a Studio B be used for? Extra programming, to make key programmes stand out? Though now that they've rolled it back to a rolling news agenda, do they actually need it? And do they make enough of the current newsroom/set to warrant a second set.

All that I can think would be for specials such as General Elections.

Maybe the Westminster studio is what they mean by studio B

Well they now have graphics showing presenter's names. I 've never seen this on Sky before.

It looks to me like the weather is now broadcast before the TOTH from the newswall, with exception to Active's offering.

No, at the sky news centre there are three studios A B C. A is the sky news studio that you see on air, B is the virtual one, the one thats never been seen, and C is five news.

Ginnyfan, yes this is quite unusual straps for presenters names, i've never seen this on sky news before, and i've been watching sky news on and off for 10 years. I prefer the weather coming from the newswall now, all that is needed now is for one presenter of the SNT team to walk over to the newswall during the v/o and do the headline summary from there, not necessarily from the pod, perhaps using the weather angle...and then we'll be right back where we started before October 05.

Actually I've been looking on tvark and seen some video of Micheal Wilson presenting GMTV, I've always assumed that he's always been at sky, so when did he leave and return to sky news.

And another thing for people that work at sky news, what is Kay Burley like in real life. This seems an odd question to ask but so many peple seem to take the mick and slag her off, and yet I think she's great, she's got personality, spirit and attitude which really comes across and are needed at sky especially for events such as the Royal Weddings, Britian on Holiday (remember that? a bit of a blast from the past eh?), or indeed during more serious events such as 9/11.

Do you mean that they are now captioning the presenters names at the TOTH? If so, then it's a good move in my opinion.

i havent seen the name captioning yet, but it sounds good. however i have seen the sky.com/news strap during the top stories and it's a bit silly. plus the sky news website isnt anywhere near as comprehensive as the bbc's - which is what most people use anyway - they should stick to where they can compete. get back the headlines on the straps.

and i must saying i am liking the little tweaks they have slowly been making recently. and i agree with the previous posters about the blue sky and clouds background - it's a bit dodgy - they should use different ones reflecting the time of day or somehting like that. orangy on sunrise maybe. and also perhaps the live at five projection hould be used at the ten as well. make it a bit more of a bulletin and make it stand out a bit.

It wasn't at the TOTH, it was [slightly randomly] during the bulletins from 7am onwards, noticed it on sunrise but only for Steve Dixon, Lorna Dunkley. None of the other presenters on [Steve Gaisford, Colin Brazier] had it show up.

Just to have a small rant, about Sky News Today. In the last couple of weeks I have been noticing that the SKY NEWS TODAY branding has been completely rubbed out, We now have the blue lines background, not the globe & Sky News Today logo, and at the screen on the desk it now shows the blue lined background. It seems that it has lost its identity, as only the presenters refer to it as Sky News Today, but the newswalls and break screens hardly use the name anoymore. Bring Back the Globe Sky!! Evil or Very Mad

They used to regularly caption presenters - in fact, I think they only stopped doing it around 98/99. Nice to see it has returned.

I actually prefer having the names read out, just sounds more authoritive, and big, very sky. Incidentally as said with earlier posts SNTpm has seemingly lost all of its branding as even the v/o and Bruce now refers to it as Sky News.

I have to say I'm liking the new live at 5 backdrop since they introduced it last week, would be good to see it used in News at 10

Can I also ask, reading from wikipedia there was a large exodus from the BBC to Sky in the early 90s right? Why exactly? At this time it hadn't built up a reputation, as strong as it is today, for quality journalism, and the speed for its breaking news...and I can't see the money being good...they were in debt until 2002, so was it just the appeal of having more air time?
