Orla did Sunrise yesterday?! She was on overnight last night too. Blimey. Is she there in a similar arrangement to Granary Whatsername, where she spent a few weeks at Sky News centre to raise her profile in Ireland?
I hope so, as I know she was very popular among Scotland Today viewers in stv central land.
Nice bit of crudeness on Sky News just then during the paper review! They went to a story on a shortage of sperm donors... apparently there's only one active sperm donor in Scotland. Martin Popplewell: "He must be really going for it then". Then they said about importing sperm from overseas... Lucy Alexander: "I don't like the idea of sperm pouring in from all over".
Hey, does anyone know what is happening with Sky News' apparent 2nd studio they were supposed to have. I'm sure I remember during the relaunch, that there was a Studio A (the main one) a second Studio B and then Five News' little studio. Has this been abandoned or put on hold with the budget cuts?

I'd go with the latter theory. The new set and relaunched schedule cost in the region of £20m. It simply hasn't generated the audience returns to make that investment worthwhile. So the thought of spending yet more money on an additional set really is pie-in-the-sky.

I just wonder why they didn't outfit it in the first place, they obviously intend(ed) to use it at some point in the near or now distant future.

Was that studio not the one that is entierly virtual i.e for all the Budget day stuff etc

Always wondered what happend with her at stv. Did she ''walk'' or was she ''pushed''?

I'm sure Studio B was used for Martins virtual stuff in Vote 05 as the gallery was supposedly used. Don't know how true this is though
I'm not sure either, all I remember prior to relaunch, publicity said "...and for the first time a second Sky News studio, in addition to the main one." I assume budget ran out, and will probably stay ran out for a few more years. Oh well.
They could at least abandon that blue background on the newswall and perhaps have the globe effect change with the time of day, i.e sunrise to sunset and night etc. would be more fitting i think.
Yeah the blue backround is awful, they should use the globe idea and expand on it ala Sunrise with the hints of orange and pink on the horizon, maybe use the genric one for Today, then from Live at 5 onwards make the globe darker?

Yeah, this is what I meant, although I do like the Live at 5 backdrop. News at 10 needs more of identity as does Sportlines.
It is in operation, but not as a proper set really... it is just a blue room, or at least half of it is.
Whenever you see someone interviewed during a recorded report that's been produced at Sky Centre, and they've got a keyed-in background, it will have been done in there.
If you remember at the time, it was actually planned to go into full operation later THIS year, not at the time of the relaunch. No idea why, or if it still will.
