I find it very sad that with 7 presentation points they use the desk.

Well, that's what the desk is there for.

Personally I find it very sad that with a nice big flashy desk, they feel the need to perch at nonky-looking perspex lecterns.

But its not like they use the desk to its full advantage really? They have this screen infront of it, that is hardly ever used. They can spin the desk around the whole way, yet they hardly ever do. And with that horrid blue background they use on the newswall, its not like the surroundings are nice!

Perhaps they could spin the desk round really fast whilst they're sat there presenting. Eventually centrifugal force would propel the presenters across the studio to land spread-eagled on the Newswall, thus removing the need for those awkward 'walking' sequences. I feel this would make the news more 'engaging', and would give Sky News the edge over News 24.

Would add a whole new side to 'spin' in the news! Laughing

Embarassed Sorry!

There has been a lot of talk about the BBC using a journalist as an anchor in Beirut and other towns, but Sky News are doing the same thing now, with Collin Brazier in Jerusalem. I can't recall seeing him in a main presenter role before.

Not been watching hard enough then!

He switched to a presenting role quite some time ago - would've been around election 2005, I think, as he did their 'Reality Check' segments. Has been on and off at the desk ever since, and I think actually comes across as a very relaxed, highly intelligent presenter. Certainly seems to be a rising star on Sky's presentation front.

Yeah...I really do rate Colin as a presenter...although it came about as an accident really didn't it? He had a punch up with someone when he was at his previous posting didn't he...so was sent to London where he now seems to have a higher profile!

I stand corrected!

I didn't realise this was the case..... Oh well, you learn something new everyday!! He is a very intelligent presenter though, I agree totally with that!

During Sunrise, has the VO (who name I can't remember) recorded a voiceover for Orla this morning?

At 9pm i noticed Martin Stanford was seated at the news wall pod...is this presentation feature new?

Yes, I noticed that he was seated at the pod too. Looks pretty good IMO. I just don't like newsreaders standing up.

Emma Crosby seems to be presenting Sunrise alone this morning, and during the newspaper review, there was a strange noise in th studio that sounded like a dog barking !!???!! Crivvens.

she's not alone, Colin is in Beiruit? [edit: Jerusalem?]

[As he said at the TOTH, I'm here in Beiruit and Emma Crosby is in the studio, it's the same set-up as the anniversairy of July 7, just different presenters.]

No it just said 'Live from the sky news centre, this is sky news Sunrise'

It actually worked well because at 7am (when I watch Sunrise) Steve was half way to the elbow when the v/o finished and started introducing the main news story.

Orla did Sunrise yesterday?! She was on overnight last night too. Blimey. Is she there in a similar arrangement to Granary Whatsername, where she spent a few weeks at Sky News centre to raise her profile in Ireland?
