There's some interesting new flying squares and swirly line-themed graphics on this evening - are these running across the channel, or just on Martin Stanford's show?

It looks rather nice, but the end-of-part bumper is a bit busy. The 3- and 4-way split-screens work rather well too.

Just for Martin's show; discussion a couple of pages back.

Good to see Martin's new format can still work on location, thousands of miles away.

There's an awful lot of communication technology going on in that show!!

Erm... what, a telephone?

I've only watched the 8pm slot (Big Brother time!) so don't know what they're saying about what is coming in the next hour, but so far they've had no webcams or anything because of the power problems in Lebanon. Pretty amazing to see some of the webcam stuff earlier in the week - they did have some people from Lebanon on, as well as the depths of Africa and so on.

OK, I admit I only watched for a brief time earlier, but thought there was someone on the webcam.

As I was typing away though, my mind might have been filling in the gaps for me when I wasn't watching the screen.

The feel of the show still seems pretty good though.

I just think this is a terrible move getting the public involved. The news should be facts, and when opinion is required it should be from someone who's worthy of my attention, not some scally with a 3G phone.

Have you actually seen the contributors to the show? They've not been 'some scally' on any occasion that I've seen. They've been people who have been able to give valuable insights into some of the stories.

PS: Is it me or have a load of posts just disappeared?

Why, oh why, oh why?! James Rubin?! I thought they'd learnt!!!

There was a classic at the TOTH. After Rubin stumbled through the opening headlines, he starts by looking at the wrong camera! doh!

I have seen this, I felt sorry for him. But he is an expert for these international topics so it doesn't matter if he's bad at presenting.

Couldnt agree more

I thought he was OK, on World News Tonight. But since the MIddle East Crisis began we seen alot more of James Rubin and what Sky wanted him to introduce to the station.

He is highly experienced and educated and he knows excatly what he is talking about. He is like an insider version of Tim Marshall. They both are experts and, in my opinion, are the most interesting people to gain an insight into international affairs on Sky News

James is only fronting the programme to save having a tonne of presenters on for no reason. They even did the honour of putting Paula in at the pod cos they knew reading the news isnt James' thing, while being a commentator and an interviewer is.

Well, in that case Sky should have a newsreader introducing his interviews and the like, with a short intro to the guests and such, and then say ''s/he's talking with James...'' and hand over to him. They should do what the CBC did with Barbara Frum when they realised she couldn't read and autocue -- amazing interviewer, but crap in front of a camera. So they got someone else to introduce her interviews and just left her to the conversation.

He is actually a good interviewer, at least when he doesn't ramble. The other week he silenced one of Putin's cronies by saying ''well, you can get all stroppy with me but it's not going to do you any favours''. Was classic.

Pretty impressive line up of guests tonight too -- PM of Lebanon, Deputy PM of Syria, Prime Minister of Italy now too.

James hasn't really lost his slot at all - he's on Martin Stamford's show more often than not analysing various global issues, and now he's effectively got WNT back for the time being.
