Oh how exciting, someone new doing overnight tonight. She's Irish, or Scottish, or something weird like that. I'm enjoying her, thought she was Samantha Simmonds at first but alas, how wrong I was.

From an e-mail I received this morning:

Dear [Sky News] Panel Member,

Sky News is launching a new evening programme in July and we would like you to be at the heart of it.

In this survey, we would like to know how much you use new technology and how you spend a typical evening.

This will help us as we create our new show which is launching in July.

If you complete the survey, we will also let you know how you could appear on TV and share your experiences.

Then, from the survey:

Sky News is launching a new evening news show in July, in which members of the public can take part by phone, by webcam and by 3G mobile. We will be sending out a daily email which will let people know what subjects are coming up that evening. Would you like to subscribe to this email? (You can cancel your subscription at any time)

She joined SKY news at relaunch last year as Orla Heron but has since married and is now Orla Shenawi (spelling?) - originally from Northern Ireland she'd worked in Scotland and presented Scotland Today I think...

She was also a reporter for Meridian News West for a couple of years.

When England’s Match started, Sky put up a score indicator again,
Say hello to the blip again, and the slightly transparent bar, say goodbye to the Sky News logo!

Towards the end they put their logo back on, all looks fine, is the blip looking like a permanent feature again?

Maybe not, at the end of the match they went back to the ticker they were using before, (bye bye blip thing) but one thing seems to be missing,

Yes the Active thing has gone, and it still hasn’t returned.
What will sky news do next?

So it sounds like its going to be a kind of 'your on sky sports' but with 'sky news' instead, sounds quite good actually

Oh yes - I always did care about carefully plucked extremist opinions in favour of what actually happened.

Sky have just created a new area of Britain.

Investigations are apparently continuing in "West Mercier".

It was rather swiftly corrected. Are there cack-handed teenagers in the gallery?

West Mercia is the traditional name for the West Midlands, well a bit west of the west Midlands. Indeed, the police force there is still called West Mercia Police.

Probably a slip up.
