If anyone has any contacts at Sky News who could find out WHY they're doing it, I'd be fascinated to find out. Would also be interested to know what kind of feedback they've had on the matter.
I thought I'd heard it was a John Ryley directive, but I'll have an ask around and see...

That sounds about right.
Ginnyfan; obviously, the staff were left reeling by the lay offs. However, most of them are relieved to be leaving the network. This means that you do not need to worry about them.

Breaking news: Sky blunders

Less than a year after its high-risk revamp, Sky News is dropping two of the new programmes it introduced and cutting jobs. Can it ever be No 1 again?

I have noticed something about Martin Stanford, a thing he does sometimes. During the wide studio shot ,when the voice intruduces the presenters, he talks with Anna and than does this thing with his leg, like he's kicking a ball. Did anyone else notice this and what does it mean. I have this photo of him doing that in front of Emma a few days ago.

I have noticed something about Martin Stanford, like whenever he reads the news he opens his mouth and sound comes out and his lips move, does anyone know what that means?
I have a cap here.

He's merely communicating with the mothership.
It is not your concern.

One MG piece that I haven't seen quoted here is from the Media Monkey column:

Quote:
Farewell then, World News Tonight, James Rubin's weeknight show axed by Sky News along with 17 staff. Monkey hears the unlucky journalists were lured away from their desks to a separate part of Sky's Isleworth HQ to be given the bad news, and returned to discover they had already been locked out of their computers. One person who hasn't been locked out is Rubin, who is staying on as an occasional pundit and presenter for Sky News and might even crop up on Sky One. Let's hope they can find enough for Rubin to do to justify his salary, rumoured to be a cool £350,000.

Seems an unpleasant way of doing things.

Might seem unpleasant, but it's pretty much normal procedure when people are being let go.

How cruel and rude that was, I can only imagine how those poor people felt, it sounds like they were literally thrown out from the Sky News Centre. Sad Sad Sad

Have none of you ever been sacked before?

Yes, it's cruel, but that's live, sh*t happens.
