What a let down!
The studio looks ok but not great:
an ITV News theatre-of-news style video wall
larger BBC News 24-style lower third graphics that swish back and forth just like N24's
dull 2D font with no attempt at animation (e.g. Sky Sport's new football graphics - they animate but don't annoy)
itny LIVE banner at the top reminds me of N24 too
very small locator strap at top too
weather GFX nicked straight off the BBC
too much walking around and items being presented from different areas of the studio (it's the first day so I guess they are showing off and will settle down eventually).
In all not the innovative or groundbreaking look I had been expected - or been led to believe.
As for content: gypsies, race relations vote and Kate Bush! I hope it gets better than this!!!

Enda Brady's certainly been on before.
David Crabtree is also a veteran Sky reporter/producer.

Who the bloody hell are all these correspondents in Birmingham?
I've seen three today that have never been on the channel before - at least to my knowledge. Where've they sprung from? Seems quite bizarre.

Kennedy, I've a lot of sympathy for your views there - particually for the money it cost as well.
I'm slightly surprised how evident the News 24 "influence" is. I mean its hardly difficult to notice the insipration, is it?
I personally don't like the faded edged, Americanised type astons, I just like clean, clear cut edges...
I quite like the music, but again I'm surprised at SN. I was expecting something completly different, not a reworking of the excisting one! - even if it does sound a million times better.
The titles seem a total wash out. Just who in God's name thought it was a good idea to move around the "newsroom" (and I use that word carefully). It seems to be a total mis-mash of ideas. And if Sky count passing a peice of paper to a rather doppy looking Techie "news gathering" then, as Moz put it, I'd rather a global news gathering one anyday, even if it does explode!
I mean its an amazing acheivement from Sky and lets not over look that, particually the studio, which looks very impressive, if slightly ABCish. But there are these worries in my mind, I can't helping thinking this was an amazing opportunity missed.

As Fabulous as Kate Bush may be it does kinda highlight the regurgitation of content this morning.. the only slight letdown in my opinion.
I haven't watched a lot of Sky News in the past, but I'm utterly entranced by the slickness of it, especially compared with News 24/World.

Agreed.
Other than the opening titles, which are fine for now, it's great! The set is very impressive, musics good, overall brilliant!!
