It's interesting that Pollard's been allowed to undo the relaunch before leaving. You've got to think that surely the new head of sky news would want to be involved in these decisions since he's taking over in a matter of months.
But then, as with the relaunch, it may be that the orders originated higher up the food chain.
I think you're spot on!

Indeed, there had been speculation that Sky News would face budget cuts to fund Sky's investment in HD.
Credit to MediaGuardian for getting the scoop, but it is incredible how sometimes it cannot get basic facts right.

Insiders expect at least part of the new Sky News schedule, introduced in the relaunch last autumn, to be dismantled.
"I don't think the Sky Report and the World Report will be around come the autumn," said one.
The World Report, fronted by Bill Clinton's former adviser, James Rubin, had just 1,000 viewers on its second outing in its 8pm slot last October.

Ginny Buckley is no great loss - she just didn't fit in I think. I think her abortion interview last week didn't do her any favours either.
I will miss Juliette Foster - it took me some time to warm to her but I do consider her now to be a class act.
JennyPercival had really been sidelined since relaunch by the rest of the pol staff, and Bestic wasn't an everyday regular in India, and has really only featured on the Sky Report.
The new schedule line-up is a bit strange - I'm not sure if Roberts (have never warmed to him) will work with Anna Jones, and it's disappointing to see Martin Stanford move down to nights, but I suppose they have faith in him and he comes across as the type of guy who'll do anything asked of him.
I can't understand Holmes has survived though - I mean why pay that amount of money (well we're led to believe his pay packet is extravagant!) and not get the viewers in return?
It'll be interesting to see what happens to weekends too.
I wonder what kind of impact this will have? Firstly a loss of 17 staff in the wider scheme o the size of the staff at SKY News is not huge. We're interested and the readers of Media Guardian are, but will the majority of the public care or even know about it?
Finally I presume the Ireland Bureau in Dublin must be relieved that they've survived this cull - afterall their performance would on the face of it not appear to be too much better than some of the ATV programmes. Also will they maintain the bulletin at 6:30 - it was only moved from 7:00 for the Sky Report, but I suppose a change back, especially after the simulcast on SKY One promoting it would probably not be a good idea.

Thank God. I seem to say that alot around here in this thread at the moment. Someone at Sky, is either reading this forum... or not blonde.
I cant wait to see Julie back on SNT PM... shame about Sky Report also being axed.. it is one of the highlights of the relaunch... just wrong presenter.

OK, I am getting over Ginny's departure, but I 'm still sorry they didn't give her a chance ( weekends or even overnight), but here is my comment on the new line up.
I don't like the fact that they are seperating Martin S. and Anna Jones. They were one of the best couples and I think they should move Anna with him.I don't think her and Chris will work good, couse he is, just like his current partner, too wooden. Also why are they leavin Gillien in her time slot? Put Paula or anyone else there and it would be better.Gillian is perfect for overnight where she can be on her own.
I 'm glad they are leaving Eamon and Lorna and reuniting Jeremy and Anna Botting, but I'm not sure about Mark and Julie.
Is Julie returning on Monday?
