I'm starting to get sick of this 4:3 safe zone crap. If you can't afford a widescreen telly then you'll have to either switch your fossil of a TV to letterbox mode, or just put up with losing a bit of picture.
It's like people moaning about TV companies using colour when they still have a black and white set.
Move on!
I don't see any problem with Sky placing things outside the 4:3 safe area, but it's going to look a bit crap for people watching on Freeview boxes whose default output for 4:3 is 14:9. Perhaps they ought to broadcast as protected 16:9 if they're going to use that area for graphics?

Another well thought out move, must rate up there with having a massive 'active' aston and a breaking news one, despite the lack of it. Tut.

Can anyone explain how the increasing death toll in the Indonesian earthquake could in any way be regarded as 'Breaking News'?
This sad story happened yesterday, and it's inevitable that over the next few days the death toll will be under continuous revision. A classic candidate for a 'News Update' aston rather than 'Breaking News'.
Still, fits in with the weekend policy of devoting fewer pixels to moving pictures I suppose.

Allan King's voiced coverage of the Papal visit was very credible. Enjoyed Sky's coverage actually. Pity they didn't have on the scene reporters though, and had to make do with telephoned-in commentry, which was a low point.
Good old Allan.

Ooh my God, Ginny was just insulted by a man she interviewed about abortion, he called her close-minded and she than said that she will not respond to that. After that Mark was confused and started talking about different views on this subject. Ginny was really pissed off, trying to act like nothing happened, poor her. That man is a real jerk.

Instead of the knee-jerk reaction that you have to defend her, why don't you look at what SHE said? A professional journalist would simply brush that off and move onto the next question. Shame Ginny has to take it to heart.
