The weekend director wants it on (everyone else doesn't AFAIK).
I think the point Marksi was getting at was what's the point of having a strap telling you to press Red to see something you're already watching?
Who's silly idea was this strap anyway? Considering the output goes worldwide, just seems a tad pointless telling the whole world that viewers in the UK can press Red.

Can someone tell me the point of the "Press Red for Top Stories" strap which is supered over the top stories?

There's more discussion about this on an earlier post on
this page, 4th message from the bottom.
This nonsense has been going on ever since the Gary Glitter trial result a few weeks ago, and now seems to be the standard look for the weekends.
As I mentioned on the previous post, I'd love to hear the justification for this from the director concerned, especially as it seems to be hated by everyone else who's commented on it.

Thats why it's only on on weekends.
Just for info;
the gallery directors or producers have no say over such policies. It would be the senior (executive) producer of a block or day who makes such decisions. Even then they can be instructed or over-ridden by the deputy head or head of news should they phone in.

I never knew Lucy Alexander was now at Sky! Saw her last night, and she was good. Haven't seen Faye Barker recently though, is she back at Calender?
