i agree with the above comments that the generally accepted use of the term 'breaking news' implies something potentially weighty of which full details are not yet known.
Fair enough, assuming a sound editorial judgement (not based on attention grabbing) is in place.
I agree that much more use of 'news alert' for example or indeed a 'latest' strap would be much more suitable for many situations.
I would also suggest it is not 'red' in colour so that level of 'impact' can be reserved for actual breaking news.

Heres what I think should happen, IMO:
- Sunrise Keep as is
- Put Sky News Today on from 9am till 3pm with Martin, Anna J & Mark with Steve, Emma being stand ins.
- Move Kay to 3pm to 5pm for Afternoon Live
- 5pm till 8pm Live @ 5 with JT and Anna B
- Move the Sky Report with Julie to 8pm till 9pm
- Sky News Tonight bring back Viv Creegor and pairing her Colin Braizer
At Weekends
- Emma & Steve on Sunrise
- Sat Live with Martin 10am till 12pm
- Sun Live with Adam
- Weekend Today with Helen F 12pm till 3pm, with a weekly news review section
- Sky News with Allan K & Julette from 4pm till 9pm
- Weekend Tonight with Paula from 9pm till midnight
That would meen axeing James R, Gillian J, Ginny B, Chris R(unless they kept him for stand in)
It would also mean for the better going back to rolling and breaking news, with some appointment to view TV!

I think the idea of SNT from 9am - 3pm would work. I know people on here dont like references to Fox News, but they could do it like that. Sunrise hands straight over to Martin and kicks over the first hour (solo) of SNT, then he is joined at 10am by Anna, who then takes over solo at 10.30am. Mark Longhurst then takes over at midday, and then joined at 1pm by Steve Dixon, and Ginny does the final hour at 2pm

Noticed a new sting out today - same as Live at Five, but with the Sky News logo instead.
