so why have ratings dropped across the board then? Surely when Sky News was at its strongest, it saw nothing wrong with having 2 newsreaders behind a desk/at a newswall, and if anything some great pairings came from that - a contrast from what was a dull, staid News 24.

And I disagree with you. The weekends plod along with not very much happening, the channel becomes monotonous.

Just watch it for up to half an hour, absorb the latest news, then switch it off. Why expect it to keep your attention for longer? Rolling news always will be a dip in and out service regardless of what channel editors or producers choose to believe.

The 3 presenter schedule HAS worked - particularly SNT AM, which is a fantastic show. But hey, that's just my opinion.

What do you think is so unique and special about the 9-12 weekday output? Apart from the 'Mass Debate' or whatever it is, what's the deal ?

Agreed..I may know Juliette, but I have to admit that I only tune in for two half hour segments at around 5 and then again at 10pm. The three presenters will not lure people away from another channel if they are offering more interesting programming. There is only so much sugar and jelly tots you can put on a news show.
In saying that I cannot say that Sky is worse or better than N24. To me they just are much the same, although I am into Sky Report, which is a jewel of journalism.
I do not see more news channels being a good thing for the industry..rather than competing with each other they should be trying to beat Sky Sports News; the channel that whips all of them!

Which presenter has been scraooed from SNT PM? And when Julie comes back, where will Anna go?

i hope she joins JT on live at five - as good as live as five is now, this would make it even better and cement it as the best news bulletin type programme. Plus we all know they are a proven pairing.

There was some talk on another site. I think it was Oor Johnnie Boy who said that it was looking like the following;

SRISE - Eamonn and Lorna (M-Th) Steve D and Emma (F-Sun)
SNTAM - Martin and Anna J
12PM - Kay
SNTPM - Mark and Ginny
L@5 - Jeremy and Anna B
Then Sportsline
WNT - Jamie
SN9-12- Chris and Gillian

Weekend
A'NOON - Allan and Helen
EVENING- Juliette and Martin

And there is a purpose for me including this list..so all those who are not happy at yet another list KMA Wink
This is not my thoughts, but in reference to another posting.
Many thanks

Yes.
I think the worst thing Sky News ever did in terms of output diversity was ditching its back half hour shows in favour of rolling news. That was around the time that the ITN news channel launched.
A good feature programme, whether live or recorded, is infinitely more interesting than churning out rolling news.
If something important happens during it, just bung a strap over it or break into it.

Anna used to present all the time, IIRC. If Steve isn't the new weekend sunrise presenter (which I still think he is) where will he go?

From what i've heard. Steve Gaisford has been demoted to filling. Steve Dixon is now the weekend Sunrise presenter. When Julie returns in the autumn, Anna Botting will re-join Jeremy Thompson on Live at Five..
